I've just remembered how I couldn't eat apple skin, or any fruit skins when I first had my first stoma. Green veg were no no 'so and only able to eat root vegetables a bore. I discovered I loathed swede, perversely my husband loved it and he's someone who only ate peas and carrots before this. 11 years down the line I can now eat all the above without a problem.
Hello KathH2,
im a bit new to my stoma, or newish. Had my operation in April, on my last round of chemo next week. Hoping that will Kill anything floating around. Meeting a dietician soon. So many questions to ask her. It’s great to see that 11 years later you can eat things. And I seem to be living on carrots and mashed potatoes. They said mushrooms sweet corn and nuts are to be avoided.
KathH2,
Thanks for the positive info, I’m a reversible hopefully, but I am planning on making most of life with the bag as this lock down and my symptoms have kept me isolated for such a long time.
I kept a food diary after the operation in August and introduced bits to add some flavour to my very beige diet and now I am enjoying some of the things I couldn’t eat when the cancer was there.
best wishes
Ann
