sorry for another mucas question the first time i mucas leave my rectum i felt less bloated etc then i could go sit down a few times every day for a few days and my rectum removed more
this was fine going to the toilet evry month of so but now i havee not been to the toilet to let mucas go this year i feel realy bloated i feel at times i need to go to the toilet i go and sit down for ages i spoke with my consultant about this a long time ago he said an emema would only make matters worse and to let nature take its cource i feel bloated squeemish at times
has any one else here had the same problem ? and how was it sorted

I can't help with your questions but I noticed that you hadn't had any replies to your post yet. Replying to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll hopefully be seen by someone who has the right experience.
You might also want to post this in the bladder cancer group, which I can see you're a member of, to see if anyone there can help.
Another idea is for you to speak to your CNS, if you haven't already. You said that you'd spoken to your consultant about this "a long time ago" but they might not be expecting you to still have these problems so speaking to your CNS or stoma nurse might help.

Hi spraylifter. I know that passing mucus can happen with a stoma but you shouldn’t be having to feel this uncomfortable. Have you tried ringing your stoma nurse? Sometimes they’re a bit more at the everyday end of things than the consultant? You could also perhaps try the nurses on here on 0808 808 00 00?

I had my illeostomy just over 4 years ago.. I've had build ups of mucus and wind on various occasions over the years and releasing both does assist discomfort. Earlier this year, I was producing excesss amounts which I believe was related to side effect of antibioticas and steroids which I had been taking for a severe ear infection.
Anyway, it's all settled now but I've noticed that it does build up from time to time. I find that exercise and being "on the move" helps a lot. So, I'd suggest staying active, if you can. I appreciate that not everyone is able to do this but I think this helps a lot.
Drinking plenty of fluids will help too.
