Has anybody gone through a reversal with the above? Had a 'routine' resection 2 years ago which tore and led to massive problems and emergency op, stoma and 10 weeks in hospital etc. At the time I was told that due to the amount of bowel taken out in that op it would be irreversible. However, recent meeting with consultant suggests it might be possible. The op apparently is tricky as there's not so much bowel left to connect. However, there's apparently enough at the other end to connect to. Had a ct scan and a colonoscopy recently for him to see it first hand and he suggests we 'talk and discuss options.' I know every case is individual, but I'm seeing the consult next week and just wondered if anyone had been through this and could offer experiences.
Hi Paley
I had noticed that your post had gone unanswered so I'm replying to bump it up the thread. Hopefully someone who has had the same experience as sees it and replies. I haven't been through a reversal myself but I know there are many people here who have.
I hope the consultation goes well and you are able to weigh up the options available to you. Be sure to ask what the impact of the reversal, with the right hemicolectomy, will have on your bowel function.
Best wishes
