Hi had my stoma colostomy bag since August 2018 never had a problem.
Until now for the past week had awful stomach /apdominal pain although I was having output.
Yesterday I had a lot of loose output then today its like marbles. Has anyone had this as the pain well uncomfortable and makes me feel sick
Thanks

Hi Bud
Sorry to hear that you are having a problem.
Just to clarify that you have a colostomy.
As you know if you have a colostomy and wearing a closed pouch your output should thick and formed depending on how far up your stoma is on your bowel, I only mention this as I have an Ileostomy with a drainable pouch which obviously lets me see any change in my output.
Have you over the last week had a change of diet or had a change of medication
I would suggest that you stop eating solids but increase your fluid intake.
Prior to yesterday how was your output has it been normal with only yesterday having a lot of watery output which could have resulted in you losing fluids which is why you need to keep them up now, but today you've experienced firm output like marbles which seems to rule out an obstruction (note I am not medically trained and unable to diagnose problems but can only offer suggestions).
Does your stomach/abdomen feel hard and swollen if so I would suggest a warm bath to ease the pain, the pain could cause you to feel sick.
Are you taking any laxatives.
IMPORTANT
If you are having extreme abdominal pain and are actually vomiting I would suggest that you give NHS 111 a ring and speak to the on call doctor to rule out any blockage just to be on the safe side.
Can I ask that you keep me informed and let me know what the conclusion was.
Sorry I can't be of much help with this problem but I hope you get to the root of the problem soon.
Ian
Hi Ian.
Yes I have a colostomy and thankful my situation has calmed down.
I think it may be cause I ate grapes and I mean a lot of grapes which in hindsight was stupid of me.
Think cause I have never had a problem before I let my guard down.
Thankyou very much for replying to me much appreciated.
