Is this normal ? Hi all, I had a fluoro enema to check for leaks last week .6 weeks after rectum removed and temp ileostomy. Before the enema I had the sensation of sometimes needing a poo but nothing but since I've had pressure in back passage and a little diarrhea every morning and feel pressure if i sit on me bum too long. Is it normal ? I see the other posts when its mentioned mucus but its not that its brown and watery excuse the graphics lol. Where does all the fluid come from if I've got ileostomy ?? Vanessa

    Hi Vanessa

Don't think you've got anything to worry about I occasionally get this and I've got a permanent Ileostomy, I think all you're passing is the remainder of faecus that has remained after the surgery and the enema has loosened it.

Usually when I get it is brown and watery just like diarrhoea.

I've not had my rectum removed but since my latest surgery to replace my stoma last July I've had a pain in the bum and have been examined by two GPs, 3 surgeons and my stoma nurse and they can't find anything wrong and have put it down to having coccydynia which is tenderness of the coccyx and have told to take pain relief and use cushions until it subsides which it is very slowly.

I found that when I feel the urge I just sit on the loo and let gravity take its course, I don't strain sometimes something happens other times nothing and feeling just goes away.

Don't think you need to be over concerned in any way.
