Funnily enough I have spent most of the afternoon preparing a spreadsheet on the very subject, will need a little bit longer to finalise it but in the meantime try this for a start.

    Apple sauce

    Ripe bananas

    Cheese.

    Jelly

    Jelly babies

    Pasta

    Peanut butter - smooth

    Plain Boiled Rice

    Tapioca

But the question really is - Which foods make the output liquid

Apple's, Apricots, all Beans, Bean Sprouts, Bamboo shoots, Cabbage, Chocolate, Coconut, Curry, Figs, Gooseberries, Grapes, Kiwi fruit, Lettuce, Mango, Oil based salad dressing, Onions, Oranges, Peaches, Peas, Pears, Plums, Pop corn, Porridge, Prunes, Raspberries, Rhubarb, Spinach, Strawberries, Sweet corn, Tomatoes.

But always keep your fluid levels up as you will be loosing a lot and you need to keep hydrated.

For me chip shop fish and chips really thickens it all up

Hope you find this of help.

Do you buy your Immodium over the counter or is prescribed by your GP as he can prescribe a higher dose than the pack recommends

Once I've finished the spreadsheet I will be posting, it will be an excel file and it has a lot of information in it.

    Bon appetit!

  • Many thanks Ian I will get some of the foods mentioned tomorrow and give it a go .the Imodium are only 2ml so prob not very powerful eh. I took 8 yesterday with little effect. The stoma nurse suggested keep upping them until it works.

    Hi .Have you read this

    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/loperamide/&ved=2ahUKEwj5gbDChoXhAhX5RxUIHeWbCe0QFjAKegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw1fTywnJ95kjruZGsm_83_z&cshid=1552685232910

You GP can usually go up to 16 mg per day or 80ml but it has been reported that very much higher doses have been prescribed by GPs but care should be taken to watch for any side effects. It does not react well with some other drugs.

Hope your stoma care nurse has arranged for you to have large capacity pouches.

Remember to keep a food diary and recording how different foods affect your output.

Let me know how you are getting on.

  • This is a great help.  I have an ileostomy and was told I couldn’t some of the foods listed. I’m desperate to have a salad Salad

  • I was exactly the same as you. Desperate to have some colour on my plate.
Baby loose leaf salad and pea shoots. Yummy. I cut the cucumber in half and remove seeds with teaspoon. This stops salad going mushy. Radishes Peppers I didn’t miss the tomatoes

    Enjoy
