Hi can I ask why you use a local pharmacy?

In my opinion you should be using a specialist supply company, it's just the same as ordering from a high street pharmacy.

The way I do it is

I do an online order to my supply company

Who request a prescription from my GP

The GP practice sends the prescription to the supply company by EPS (Electronic Prescription Service)

The supply company confirms when they have received the prescription and we agree a delivery date.

The night before delivery I get an email confirming despatch.

The day of delivery I get told a one hour slot when my order will arrive I can then track the driver.

With my order for pouches I get

Dry wipes choice of 3 sizes

    Blue Disposable bags

Grey thicker Disposable bags for double wrapping.

    Wet wipes

    Disposable bed pads

Once a year a washable bed pad.

With the first order I got a

    Wash bag

    Mirror

    Scissors

    Clothes peg

And in my opinion that is the minimum you should be getting each month (with the exception of washable bed pad);when you order pouches.

The company I use is Securicare Medical and have no problem with them, if I didn't order on line they would telephone every month to check my requirements.

Don't put up with off hand untrained pharmacy staff any longer make the change today, you won't regret it.

If I can be of anymore help on anything to do your ostomy supplies please give me a shout out, I am here to help and advise you at anytime.

    Hi Janis

I use Medilink for my supplies and the amount of wipes I have is dictated by me. I have quite an active stoma at times and so can use quite a few during one change. I order 120 dry wipes a months. They’ve told me u can have as many as I like. The prescription is signed off my my GP and I’ve increased to this amount over the past year. No issues with this and didn’t speak to my GP before I did it. The wipes are good so can’t complain about the feel or absorbency.

    Hope this is helpful.

    Take care

Exactly what Ian said....I use Bullens who call me every month -  (only as they are local to Liverpool and I get a local driver) But I have used Securicare before and they are great.

The switch is easy and I know Ian (Bodach) will be able to guide you through if needed.

Securicare and others like Bullens have trained staff who do understand... Make the switch...

    Let them

Contact your GP for the prescriptions

As part of the Amcare group you get a lot of freebies plus you can join the Convatec programme called ME+ which is very useful for getting information.

Like all supply companies they can supply pouches and everything else you need from any manufacturer not just their own products.

If nothing else tempts you to make a change can I put this to you

Would you rather make a special trip to your pharmacy to collect your supplies, which can be quite bulky or have your supplies delivered to your front door by a courier or even the local company driver.

I've used both methods and no way would I want to go back to lugging bags of supplies back from the pharmacy when the courier delivers to my door and if the box is heavy/bulky offers to bring it in doors for me, no contest and I am sure that most ostomates would agree with me

Please don't delay contact them over the weekend by email and if you look at their website you can register on line and start to enjoy stress-free ordering of your supplies and not have to worry about getting your dry wipes, wet wipes, disposable bags and all the other freebies that are on offer.

The goods are delivered to you at no charge as the NHS allows the company a set amount for delivering your supplies, it is also part of the conditions that dry wipes should be supplied with your pouches but with a supply company you decide how many you need which you have probably realised you can use more than a pack at each change.

Please let me know how you get on and if you need any help just shout out, I'm always about and always willing to help with any problems you have.
