Hi my name is Annette I am due a reversal very soon and I am so worried and so apprehensive as to wether I have it done I read so many peoples stories about how long it takes to get back to a "norma
function about accidents they have how long it is loose stools for . So much I know everyone is different, I have spoke to my consultant who just says it could take anything up to 2 years to get a proper function you may also never be right and may have loose stools forever .The reason I'm so scared is I have nerve damage in bottom from the cancer operation so I find it very difficult to sit down I am very anxious very scared about anything else going wrong . I am happy with my ilstomy bag who's called "Willamina" I cope fantastic with her I have had her coming up to 7 months yeah I have to be careful what I eat but I know how to deal and cope with it . So I'm just thinking shall I keep the bag and be happy and live my life with her as really nothing changes still do all the swimming and working just be careful lifting I think that's all I need to be worried about . So please anyone out there please please please give me some advice on having a reversal or shall I keep my bag .thankyou x
Hi Dolphin67 (Annette) and welcome to the group.
It’s good to hear you’re coping well with your ileostomy, but I can understand that you’d want to know more about the reversal op before making a decision. I have a permanent colostomy and urostomy so can’t share any experience with you, but there are lots of discussions about this in the group.
I’m going to tag in my friend Ann (Artsie)as she’s been through this and is always the person I think of first when this topic comes up!) . There are others in the group who’ve been through this too, so I hope they’ll come along and share their experiences.
