You might get additional replies by posting this also in the bowel cancer group where more people will have had chemo post surgery. I’m assuming it will be Capecitabine? 

In this group there are people like me who didn’t have bowel cancer at all though still have stomas, so it might limit who can help you out with this here. The bowel group will widen your audience.

Thanks appreciate that, and yes I have my ileostomy still getting used to navigating around the site.

If you click on your own name, the groups you are a member of are shown-then just click on the bowel group and you get straight there without having to search for anything. It can take a bit of getting used to, navigating around the site!

Thanks i’ll take a look, also the tablets you mentioned i’ll ask the nurse about, unfortunately the consultant didn’t lend much time and mainly had a stand in for him, so his time felt rushed as clinic was an hour and a half behind.

Appreciate the guidance thanks 

It will help others to answer if you can find out the type of chemo you’ll be having.

You were right it’s the Capecitabine, I didn’t know when posting but the information pack from the note pad i took came to light when i just took a call from the hospital. I hadn’t yet looked at it, sounds like you have experience of these then, how did you go?

I didn’t have bowel cancer, so I haven’t had these. I had a different chemo for my cervical cancer first line treatment, but I know lots of members in both this group and the bowel group have had Capecitabine.

Hi Double G,

  I had Capecitabine alongside my 25 sessions of radiation treatment back in March. Had to take 5 tablets twice a day and luckily had no side effects or reactions to taking it.

Along with my radiation treatment this managed to shrink a 7cm tumour I had in the lower bowel enough to be able to have surgery for the resection.

  Long story short, operation complete and awaiting results and am well on the path to recovery.

Hi Gary thanks for the reply sorry for the delay in getting back been a lot going on with the house move, hopefully i’ll be like you and no side effects but crap to have this over christmas but it could always be worse i suppose.

Got appointments this coming Monday and Tuesday regarding the chemo so no doubt it will be kicking off soon, i’ll update on here as soon as i know.
