I’m confused.
I am 13 weeks post LAR /ileostomy surgery. Undergoing chemotherapy but having periods of time where I’m in really extreme pain and passing stools through anus which hasn’t been used for three months.
I have spoken with stoma nurse. She thought it was possibly leftover stuff in the colon making its way out. I disagree and it shows recent food particles. There is no blockage so it was thought possibly due to the chemo. Im Still not convinced of that.
I feel somehow food waste is bypassing my stoma and making its way into the distal colon.
Has anyone else experienced this and what can or should be done about it ?
Hi Loving life. Do you have a loop Ileostomy? When you have one of these there are actual 2 ‘ends’ although you can usually only see 1 - see explanation below. If some of your output gets into the redundant part - maybe your bags got too full or gunged up around the stoma - then some of your output can come out through your bottom
