Hi everyone not been in touch for a while.but with the help of a Macmillan counsellor on the phone I spoke about a consultant who was extremely insensitive to me when I had a check up after my gp had referred me after I had had a lumpectomy,on the basis of what was said on that day I transferred to a different hospital, but I was traumatised and four years later i turned to the phone line and I feel so much better.I thank God I spoke about it at last, one of her remarks was.you should burn your Macmillan books.I delayed talking about it because my husband developed prostate cancer for the second time .I had a witness to the interview a dear friend who burst into tears, since then I have campaigned for compassion from doctors and nurses.more training is needed love and prayers to all of you.
Hi Dianne, so sorry to hear your news. But good that you became proactive and looked for help and been able to work things out.
Great that you are campaigning for better bedside manners as some professionals do need them.
Some health professionals need a compassion transplant. At times they think the world revolves round their experience and understanding and great institutions like Macmillan tend to be a threat to their control and a threat to being in control.....but it’s good that they are in the minority.
((hugs)) to you and the family.
Hi highlander thanks for your reply,it is such a shame that in this enlightened age that we still have to fight for respect and compassion from doctors and nursing staff ,when we are facing a serious health crisis, but luckily there are many who are really lovely and very sensitive to our feelings of fear and anxiety.luckily my dear husband has the most sensitive and careing team around him.and I have too now.thank you for your thoughts and prayers and I send love and prayers back to you and all those in your family.and thank God for Macmillan.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
