Thanks latchbrook for your reply. I'm off to see the Macmillan support nurse this afternoon to see if she can help me. Since I dont have a job anymore I'm so fed up with my own company and trying to fill my days trying to find things to do

  • I hope she can come up with some suggestions for you. Have you thought of doing some form of voluntary work?

I noticed in your profile that you said you're fed up with talking about cancer, and I do understand how you feel, so it might be good if you can find something where your diagnosis doesn't come into play.

By the way, when you want to reply to someone in any of the threads just click on the 'reply' button at the end of their post.

All the best for your meeting this afternoon.

Hi there..I've done voluntary work in the past but that just left me feeling even more alone in the world. Thanks anyway

  • Hi

How did your meeting with the Macmillan support nurse go? Was she able to come up with any useful ideas?

    Hi latchbrook

Basically she said that because I'm such a bubbly outgoing person so used to being busy that I dont know what to do with myself.i explained to her that since I lost my job my ex colleagues have fallen by the wayside(which is understandable) I imagine I just remind them of the people they have lost through cancer. Plus not having any family of my own I'm feeling a bit isolated. She decided that because I told her the cancer doesn't define me and I really can't be sitting there listening to people going on about their cancers/medications etc that I didn't really need a "poor me" support group and she couldn't see me sat there making macrame hanging baskets, I just need more of a social thing. So she gave me the "Cancer Resources Directory" which I'm going through now. It's a start.
