Hi All
My name is Stewart and I am setting up a new social group in London called Live Through This. The group is my own initiative and I'll be running the sessions, but it is supported by both Macmillan and Kings College Hospital.
I am a gay cancer patient with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia and the idea for the project came from the lack of support groups meeting up aimed at LGBTQIA+ patients. Especially lacking were groups open to every type of person and their cancer, so the aim of this group is to be open to everyone irrespective of their specific diagnosis. We will be socialising and supporting eachother through our shared experiences as LGBTQIA+ people in the healthcare setting. I am working hard to create an environment that can be a safe space for all people who identify as gay, trans*, lesbian, bisexual, queer, intersex, ace, gender fluid and other gender identities so we can all share together.
I am hosting a focus group on the 2nd of July at Kinds College Hospital, SE London where I want to share my thoughts on the groups structure and get your input. If you would like to attend, the information is all on the poster in the following post. For more information you can reply directly to me here or contact me via the Macmillan Centra at Kings by leaving a message with their team there (02032995227).
I hope this message finds you well and I hope to see some of you there.
Stewart.
