    Hi girlies,

Jean im so glad you found the courage to join this discussion group to. Like you it took me a few weeks of looking before i dare post on here...silly really because there are a great, supportive bunch of people here. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, hopefully we wont feel too bad. Last time i had chemo i experienced the chemo coma (slept for the first few days)! So if you dont here from me during this coming week it just means im sleeping!!! Thanks for letting us know about the free prescriptions. Im diabetic so already have them free, however its only right that we all do!!

Hi Little Miss Maria, how lovely that everybody has great comments for your hair, it sounds like the cold cap did the trick. I decided not to bother with the cold cap...now im practically bald!!! Its ok though. Where abouts are you currently with your treatment?? Its a fab idea about not getting dressed for a week after chemo. Sadly i cant do that as i have a 5 year old who needs taking to school etc. Having said that, i do nothing (except sleep) while shes at school and my family are a great help.

Hi Marmalade, The dodgy wig has made several appearances now but i feel sooo self conscious everytime someone new sees me!! My husband says i look like Jimmy Saville and says 'now then, now then' whenever i first put it on!!! Hee hee. I tend to wear a bennie on top of it so then it doesnt look so wiggy!!!
Its fab news that your sis could be showing off some new boobs this summer. I wish her well and hope they sort them out as soon as possible, my fingers are crossed too. I hope all goes well for her Wednesday, i shall be thinking of her.

Heatherann, hows things? I too hope you have enjoyed good walks and good rest. The weather has been good but its very winding here today! It nearly blew my wig off!!!

Lorraine, im glad your feeling alittle better again today. Let us know how Thursday goes and what your treatment plan is. At least you'll know where you stand with treatments and whats going to happen.

Fran, how did the mammo go last Friday? Hope your ok.

Margaret its great that you are coming to the end of chemo and its done the job for you. I didnt have a pic line (had a port as im having 12 months of herceptin after chemo and the veins wouldnt cope)!! but i can imagine how lovely a bath/shower will be without it.

Liz how are you. Hopefully your third chemo hasnt been to hard on you. How was the do? bright and cheery im sure.

Gosh!!! Theres so many of us now, my list is getting longer....its great!! Hope i havent missed anyone out!
Keep posting everyone. It really helps alot
    Big hugs

    Hi Chelle,

Had to send you a quick reply, as when I came back from lunch & read your post, it made me laugh out loud, got a very strange look from the guy who works opposite me..

Hubbys can be so cruel.. :-) You'll have to arrange to "fix" something for him! :-)

I can only imagine how you feel wearing it and I'm sure I would be really self conscious too, but I hope you get used to it soon.

Thanx for the good wished for my sis.. Will be thinking of you tomorrow, hope you don't feel too poorly!

    xx

    Hi Marmalade,

Im so glad i made you laugh, we need a few more of them around here!

You're so right that i need to 'fix' something for my husband. Having said that, he is a cheeky chappy and does make me laugh through all this! I must tell you that whenever i remove my wig, hat or scarf (whichever im wearing) he cheers (loudly) when i reveal my bald head!! Im being very brave and showing my naked head when i'm in the house, only choosing to cover up when i go out. Its surprising how cold your head gets with no hair!!

I must get my picture taken in 'the wig' and work out how to attach it to my profile then you can see what its like!! Actually with a hat it really doesnt look like a wig (covering most of it up seems to help)!!!!
    Take care

    Hi Chelle,

    Your hubby sounds great!!! :-)

Pic is easy to attach to your profile.. Go into your profile, click on "picture profile" & then "browse" and select the picture you want from your computer and then click "save changes". It is then uploaded.

I only know because I did this originally & then wimped out & took it off..

    xx

    Hi Peeps,

I hope that everyone is well.

I went to oldham hospital for my mammogram. They said that they did not have the last ones that were done at bury but she couldn't see anything wrong. So I guess that's good news.

My friend Gill has been allowed home from christies today she has non hodgkins lymphoma and has been through 6 sessions twice and then a 6 day intensive course before her stem cells were put back. She has done really well and I am very proud of her.

    lots of love

    Fran

    Good morning everyone.

Wow!!! such a lot of post to read. Welcome to everyone who is new to the site there are some great people to talk to you'll never be short of a good gab!

I had quite a good four day week at work thay made it easy for me, just hope i'll be able to work when I start my chemo, speaking of which that starts on Thursday, im feeling rather aprehensive about it to be honest, it seems ive been in some sort of limbo untill yesterday when i talked to the chemo doctor and she told me when it was going to start, it suddenly hit home! All I seam to dream about when I go to sleep is about cancer. I dreamed last night that I dit a Brittany Spears and shaved my head. When I woke up I checked to see if it was still there!!! Ive ordered a wig and some bandanas so i'll be well prepared, for the practical side of it anyway maybe not the phicalogical (if thats how you spell it!!!) side, but then I don't suppose many of us are.

I had a good Mothers day got a bouquet of flowers, a box of thorntons, and a big card from Barney Boo!. For those of you who don't know who Barney Boo is........He's my Dog!!!!!

    Speak to you all soon

    Love Heather XXXXX

    Hi Heatherann,

Glad you had a good week at work..welcome back! Thought you might have gone on an extra long walk.. :-)

Will be thinking of you on Thursday.. I can only imagine how apprehensive you must be about it, I guess it's the fear of the unknown for you. Sorry you're dreaming about it too. Looking on the positive side, it's finally getting your treatment underway & you can start crossing them off, I know that's what my sis did. Fingers crossed that you don't feel too poorly..pamper yourself & make sure you get lots of tlc! I'm sure Barney Boo will snuggle up with you.

Best wishes to you & to everyone else..

    xx
