Hello my name is Heather I have just been diagnosed with brest cancer last week for the first time (and last I hope) Both my sisters have had cancer, one died seven month ago Im a bit scared of what to expect with the chemo. Can anyone tell me how soon after the treatment do you start to feel ill? How soon do you lose your hair?

    Afternoon All!

So pleased to hear that your sister has a date for her op., Marmalade. It's been a long time coming.

I start taking the Arimidex tomorrow. Fingers crossed that there are no side effects. Back to Stoke tomorrow for Radio no 5. That'll be 1/3 done! I have to phone the physio tomorrow to make an appt re my dodgy arm. Don't know if they will start me right away or wait until after the radio.

Re DLA..........I have had another letter from them saying that they are looking at my case again and It could take up to 11 weeks for an answer. What a farce! No wonder some people just give up.

I'm getting used to the new site now. Just wish the others would come back!

Paula so good to hear that you are more or less your usual bubbly self again.

Sue, when you come back from Cyprus on October 5th I'll be thinking about flying out there or to Rhodes for a week's holiday. Have to see the onc on October 14th first and then if all is ok we'll be off!!!

    Love to all, Jean xx

    Hi,

Just a short one. Jean, I had the same letter from DLA waiting for me when I came back from holiday. What are they up to?

    Love, Laila xxx

    Hi Laila

I think they are spinning the time out until it is nearer to the 6 months since I applied. I presume they will then want to know if my "condition" is still the same or if it is improving. If it is improving they can then turn me down again.

I sincerely hope it is improving, as I would love to have more movement in my arm and less pain and then they can stick their DLA where the sun don't shine!

    Love Jean xx

Emlou, so glad your Mum is diong well after the op, fingers crossed for Wed for a clear result xxx

Jean, nearly there with the radio!!! I agree about telling them to stick it but why should we, this has been an awful experience for us all and we deserve some help. I still haven't heard after my second letter saying they are still looking into it, no doubt I will get my refusal soon.

Actually managed to chef this morning for the hotel and then went for a lovely walk down the seafront, called in at some friends on the way back and now buggered but had a nice day considering it is second day after chemo. Going to have a lovely Sunday lunch now which I cooked this morning whilst cheffing. Hope everyone is good xxxx

    Hi Caley & Stef

Glad you have found us! Only a few more to go until we have the full compliment  again.

Stef, hope you enjoy your night out and don't fall asleep!

Caley, I know what  you mean about having to have your bad arm behind your head. I had to do it for 45 minutes when I was measured up for my radiotherapy and the pain was agonising. Luckily I had a very understanding radiographer, not like the unfeeling bas---- you had. Hope you have recovered now.

    Love to everyone, Jean xx
