Can anyone tell me how soon after the treatment do you start to feel ill? How soon do you lose your hair?

Thank you everyone. It helps just knowing it is not unusual. I'll bite the bullet until Monday. It feels like I have watermelons under my arms at the moment.

Hi Maria My friend and I had our op the same day. IWe both had our drains remover on the 7th day and I had no problems with fluid. However my friend had to return to the hospital every other day to have her fluid drained this went on for over a month but she was told this was unusual. I dont think you should be putting up with the pain your having and if it gets worse over the weekend I would call the hospital. Sometimes this happens and you realy need to watch your temperature and if it get high then definately call them.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

    Lots of love Lorraine xxx

    Afternoon All

The GREAT NEWS is that after 17 days, my taste buds are starting to work again. First thing I tasted today was tomato soup at lunchtime, followed by a tangerine! I was dancing around the kitchen afterwards! 17 days is such a long time to have everything tasting like poo. I really mean it when I say I will never ever take food for granted again. I can't wait until they are fully recovered and I will have the biggest, juiciest fillet steak I can find. Tournedos Rossini, I do feel, with all that lovely tasty pate and rich madeira sauce.

Welcome to the newbies. I can't add anything to what the others have said already. Only that you have come to the right place for support, advice and sympathy. This thread has been a lifeline for so many of us.

Best of luck for Tuesday, Caley. Keep us posted.

Lorraine, when did you get to sleep? I see you were still awake at 1.45. I really hated the sleepless nights when I was on the steroids.

Paula, please let us know how you get on today at the hospital. Fingers crossed that they let you home and that your boob is ok.

    Love to everyone
    Jean xx

    Afternoon all,

Jean, I got my taste back on Friday!! Looked up the recipe for the Tounedos - sounds yummiiii, but expensive!

Think I'll wait with the rare beef until I have finished the chemo - but then I will have all the food that has been forbidden - seafood, pate etc. Do I look forward to that :-))

Just going to look for a recipe on my trusted BBC site for sausages and chesnut mushrooms...

Had all my energy back yesterday (or so I thought!) so cleaned all of downstairs, with the result that I fell asleep in my chair at about 22.00. Have taken it much easier today!!

Keep having a nice weekend everybody.

    Love, Laila xx

Hi Laila - so pleased for you, too :-) I'm not surprised you fell asleep at 22.00 - what an achievement! But don't wear yourself out doing too much cleaning - save some for making those delicious meals - you and Jean are making my mouth water!
Glad you had a restful day today,
    love, Wendy xx

    Hi Wendy and Laila

Thanks for your very kind post Wendy!

Laila, oh my god I am so pleased you have your taste buds and energy back. Isn't tasting things so fantastic. I can't believe how good it is to taste food again. The best thing is that each day from now on it will get better and better.

My brother is coming down from Scotland on Monday for the week and I am so pleased that when we go out to eat (which we will in a big way as he won't allow me to cook) I will really enjoy it and not have to put on a front for him!

    Oh happy days!

    Love to all

Hi All, just a quick one to say hi. My mum had got her letter today to go for an appt to take a load of samples and test her for mrsa etc (which apparently will take the whole afternoon, so im going to keep her company) Then injection of radioactive goop on 14th and lumpectomy on 15th. She is a poop patient, and will have to be made to take it easy (by me!) only in for the day though for the lumpectomy, so im gonna stay at hers that night to keep watch (shes going mad with me for being over-protective already!!)
Lorraine, i told her id joined here, and that it had helped loads. I think that she feels everyone elses stories might make her more scared, where as at the moment shes not even worried, just seing it as a routine op. She might change her mind.

Ive rallied the troops and were going to 'wear it pink' in oct to raise some £, and look at some kind of race for nxt year, the training and planning will get me fiut and gove me something to concentrate on too!!

have a good weekend everyone, i hope you all manage some sleep, Lorraine you were on in the early hours, i hoipe you managed some eventually!!

    see you tomorrow xx
