Hi Lailla, I am on Pactitaxel, apparently my onc told me they are all the same family as taxotere. I had the terrible aching at first and my onc gave me paracetomol with co codomol, didn't really help so just put myself to bed at night and prayed it would be gone in the morning. I am now on it weekly so the side effects are not as harsh, have you thought about asking if this is possible?
Good news for my hubby is my voice has completely gone and I can't get a word in edgeways.
Mum has just visited and she is dreading tomorrow as my sister will get her treatment regiem, hopefully it won't be chemo but having had a double mastectomy and cancer in both breasts it is unlikely, God help her, I don't know if she will cope with it.
One of my twinnies rang me from Turley as she was having a Turkish massage, I was so jealous, just what I need lol
No 7 on Wednesday, YIPEE!!!! Feels like I am really counting down from the 20 now.
Jewels you are more than welcome to post here, this is what the site is for whether or not it is you or your sister, like me it could be both xxxx

    Hi ya,

Jewels you are more than welcome to contribute to this thread. Any advice is most welcome and we are all here for you if you need to chat, rant or anything that helps you cope. You and your poor sis have had a horrendous time, I hope are both ok now x

Laila I’m so sorry you’re having such a rotten time on Taxotere, it sounds awful. Lets hope it calms down soon and isn’t like this each time. Just wish I could offer more helpful advice.

    Stuart keep fighting this!!

Jean I luvvvv the photo. You all look so cool. Shame it was chilly, but what a fab night. Well at last we’re into out final week!!! Woo-hoo! Just a shame foods still gonna taste poo for a while yet!

    Kay glad you’re ok.

Caley it’s great to hear you’re ok after surgery. I too think the bells a fab idea and wish I’d thought of that though my family may not have thought so! Don’t worry about your lymph nodes, lots of people have positive ones, have them removed, receive treatment and are fine.

Sam your Saturday sounds perfect :-) glad you enjoyed it.

Stef you poor thing. My first few months of chemo would make me feel like you so you have all my sympathies. Thank goodness it’s just for 24hrs (bad enough I know). Hope you're feeling better now x

Sue that’s just fantastic news, no wonder you’re relieved. I’m sure the adenoma is nothing to worry about but it’s hard not to look these things up!!!

Wendy it sounds like you’ve had a brilliant weekend :-) When are you off to York? It’s lovely having something nice to look forward to and it’ll make time go quicker for your op!
    Hope everyone else is well,

    Take care Chelle x

Thanks Chelle, will do and now going to get Vicky's union involved ;)

Sam - With regards to calculationg sick leave, if terms & conditions simply state "Total periods of company sick leave in any 12 month period" but make no reference to calculating that period, what would the implied 12 month period be?

Thanks again for all the support ;)

    Hi Paula,

We posted at the same time!!

Isn’t it frustrating when you lose you voice!!! Grrhhhh! I can imagine your hubby is secretly smiling about it ;-)!! No more shouting, moaning or just constant chatting (if you’re anything like me!!) ha ha!
Good luck for your sister tomorrow. Lets hope it’s not too much for her as she’s going to find it hard to cope. I can’t imagine how your poor mum must feel with both her daughters going through this!!
    No 7…go girl you’re getting there..yipppeeee!!

By the way ladies I also got refused DLA. They said as I could walk and cook a meal for one I didn’t qualify!! Yes I can walk but when chemo strikes you can’t wake up, get up or do anything let alone go for a stroll!! And I have a family of 5 (3 kids, my youngest being 6) to cook for, I could hardly cook just for myself and not them could I!!! They don’t take into account domestic work and looking after children etc. I'm actually quite annoyed about there criteria! Thanks for the rant :-D

    Love Chelle x

    Hi laila

Oh how I remember the first lot of Taxe I had. It hurt so much everywhere that I didn't know what to do with myself. When I next saw my oncologist I asked for a prescription for something stronger than paracetamol and could have cried when he said nothing else he could give me would help much. HOWEVER, I went on to have another 5 lots of the stuff, and none of the rest were remotely as bad as the first, so hopefully you will be the same. Just another couple of bad days to get through, then much better. I'd already had three goes with FEC, so there may well be something in what Jewel said, that it's worse if you'ved already had some chemo. Grit your teeth girl, it will be better next time.

Hey Chelle!!! I am soo excited for you and Jean, nearly there now!!!! You're right, hubby in his element as I can't moan lol
Have you got your radio dates? Jean and I are sorted and hubby has rented a lodge on the river hamble so we can chill at the same time, why not try to enjoy it seeing as I have to move lodge lol.
I really think you should appeal your DLA, I have recieved a letter saying they are writing to my surgeon but to be honest I have told them I can also walk. Bloody hell! What do they expect you to be like to qualify for this, makes my blood boil when I think of how we all feel on this crap!!!!!!
    Rasnt over lol xxxxx

    Just a quickie!

A sore throat is very common. I suffered from it on my first 4 doses of chemo, also chemo cough, which I still suffer from!

Just another one of the delights of chemo!! As long as your temperature is ok then no worries. If your temperature does go up, then get to the Docs straight away as you will need antibiotics.

    Love Jean xx
