Evening all,
Laila you minx!! You look soooo fab. What a lovely weekend you had, shame about your mouth ulcers :-(
Jean I saw my onc today and was told that I can have radiotherapy from the 14th September too!! However there is a small waiting list (only about a week) so mine will be anytime from the 14th. The hospital are going to ring me to arrange my initial assessment and look around the unit and I think my first appointment will arrive by post?? But I’m not sure it could be by phone..i wish I’d asked!! Because of me having SLE (Lupus) I’m at a higher risk of blood clots, so instead of Tamoxifen, I’m to have my ovaries removed (to be put into a definite menopause) and then I can have Arimidex? (have I spelt this right?). But until my ovaries are removed I’m to have the Zoledex injections. I’m booked in to begin Herceptin on 21st October, after Rads.Like you the wheels are in motion and i'm so excited about moving onto the next phase.
Wendy I love your photo. I’m feeling left out what with you and Jean on the plonk..think I need to join in!! :-D
Paula it’s great but not so great to be shaving again isn’t it? The thought of plaiting it made me laugh. I’m definitely not shaving as often as i was before chemo, so I think the hair is still affected a little. Glad your nails are better this time, the varnish must be doing the trick. I’ll soon be joining you (this Autumn) with the hot flushes!! I hope all goes smoothly for your sister x
Lesley my chemo’s can really wipe me out too which I really don’t like!! So I’m very pleased you’re feeling much better x
Bec30 I’m so sorry to that you and your mum are going through this. Don’t worry, her doctors will make sure she has what’s right for her and work with the emphysema. My best wishes to you and your mum x
Kimita I’m so sorry that you too have to join us. I’m afraid I haven’t had a masectomy so I cannot advise you about this. It’s good that they’ve caught it early and I wish you and your mum all the best x
Kay I’m sure you’ve had a fab time at Greenwich :-)
Jenney I’m pleased that your chemo has gone well for you and really hope that you’re still ok today..D day!! I know what you mean about it being nasty watching the red stuff go in your body!!
Sue how frustrating it wasn’t done properly in the first place…grrrhhh!! Have you made a decision yet? If there are any doubts about all the cancer being removed maybe you should get a second opinion either there or back in the UK. I hope your onc is straight forward with you Wednesday then maybe you’ll know what to do. Don’t worry about the pain in your tumour site as I have that sometimes too and was told by my onc that this is normal with chemo. Glad you’re still smiling, keep positive x
Sorry there are so many of us i feel like i've written a novel!!!
Love Chelle x
Hi everyone
It’s been a while since I posted so just thought I’d pop by and say hi!
It’s chemo week again this week, my last FEC (yippee). Saw the Professor yesterday for a check up and chat. Tumour hasn’t shrunk anymore than it had after first dose, so love him, he’s increasing the FEC dose by 10% - yey, great!!!! (he says my sarcasm is endearing!! Lol) As usual he asked what side affects I had after last dose, told him was sick as a parrot and felt sick for 4 days, so he’s prescribed some heavy dose anti-sickness tablets to take 1 hour before Wednesday’s chemo, then for 2 days afterwards. Pharmacy was shut by the time I left the Prof last night so they’re sending them to my local hospital to pick up late afternoon today. Am off to get bloods done – need to be there by 9am this morning so I should go get a wriggle on as I can’t really go in my PJ’s!! lol
Had a chat with Prof about my next lot – Taxotere – specifically about the nails and them falling off – they’re the only thing I got going for me at the moment so I don’t want to lose them. He looked at my nails and said they’d be fine as they’re painted a deepish blue marbled effect, told him they’re acrylic and he looked blankly at me and said “they’re what?” I repeated, he shook his head and said I’ve no idea what you’re on about, what’s acrylic? He then looked at my toe nails and laughed – they’re currently leopard print (transfers). He then looked at me, patted my knee and laughed and called me “little weird one” lol bless him he soooo doesn’t get me. Lol
Laila – Love, love, love the outfit – you just need they leopard print toenails like I’ve got!! Lol xx
Well off to the vampires. Hope you all have a good day,
Thinking of you all
Love Sam xxx
PS – Jenney – Well done on your first FEC. Apart from being tired I didn’t have any side affects after first bout (not really had anything to worry about after second either to be honest). Hope you’re still feeling OK, chin up chicken xx
Hi all,
Thanks for your support, I must admit I'm a little out of sorts with this, I really thought I was doing the right thing staying here in Cyprus to have my treatment, but it has turn out to be a complete disaster.
I haven't decided yet as I want to speak to my oncologist over here first, so wish me luck with that.
My sister spoke to my GP in UK and she has advised that I return asap.
I am so depressed with all this.
Thanks again and I'll keep you posted.
Oh and liala your leopard skin pants are great.
