Just a thought but is there any way on this site we could set up a 'useful folder' for the newbies. There are lots of us on here which have been, and are going through chemo which have figured out the best medications for all the side effects. It would be great if we had a folder at the top of the site that people could click on. I am sure there must be a way of doing this even if it is just a link we attach to our name at the begining of posts etc. Any ideas anyone?

Hi ladies and of vouse hi to my fellow newbies,

just a quick post as the nerves are getting the better of me go to hospital tomoz(thurs) for my bloodtest and a chat about my treatment plan.

today i took my two boys to our town centre(Uxbridge) to welcome home the troops from afghanistan and well did I cry or what my two boys thought i was mad!!!! i guess i just needed to cry and feel much better for doing so!!!!

I felt so proud of the troops and i didn't actually know any of them but seeing the kids with their banners and t shirts saying I love you daddy just got me crying like a bloody baby i don't know guess it just puts life into perspective....sorry if i'm rambling just needed to share it with you all...

anyway i will let you all know how friday goes and anyone else having chemo good luck and those that had it already this week(the chemo that is!!)lol hope you are all okay.

Yes the idea of a folder for newbies is a great idea they must and has to be a way to do it.

    bye for now

    Morning All

Lesley, Hope you are OK after your scare with the chemo. That must have been frightening for you and your hubby. Did you enjoy your "last supper" last night? It's horrible when you lose your taste for things.

Paula, you sound happy! Keep it up. Only 9 to go! Your Haddock Gratin sounds lovely. My taste buds have kicked in this morning, so we are off to the pub for lunch. It's also sunny and really warm here today, so we can sit in the beer garden.

Your idea of a folder for hewbies sounds good to me. Don't know how we can go about it though. Any PC whizz kids here?

Good luck for tomorrow, Jenney. Keep us posted. Most of us have found that the first chemo is ok.

Jo hasn't been around for a while. Anyone know how she is?

    Love to you all

    Jean xx

Hi All and welcome Lesley Jenny and Carley, So many people here I cant keep up with all the posts.

Paula hope your feeling ok after your last chemo and enjoyed your lunch and pints. Great that you only have 9 weeks to go counting down always seems faster. After today my 9th will leave me with 11 to go so wont be far behind you. Cant wait for this to finish fed up going to the hospital every week :( Still November isnt that far away and the side effects arent to bad compaired to the 3 weekly chemo.

Kay Glad the animals survived. Bet your happy to be off duty although I will miss your funny animal stories.

Jean your friend sounds like a great laugh We need friends like that. Met up with a friend last night and if she said you better be here by xmas one more time I was ready to thump her. Maybe she is worried that I wont be here for her to get me my xmas present lol She kept hinting she had some great photos so well see.(if I dont kill her before hand)

Off to France on Friday night so trying to organise the house without much sucess. Have so much washing to put away (my pet hate) The boys should do it themselves but what happens when I give them their clean clothes they end up coming back down to be washed because they are all creased. (boys !!!!)

Chemo today so will be up most of the night with the steroids. Feel a little sick for a few days after my chemo so dont want to stop taking them as it might make me feel even more sick.

Hope everyone is having a lovely day. The sun is shining here so off out to the garden with my cup of tea in my pj's and bandana.

    Take care all

    Lots of love

    Hi everyone.

I'm home again now. I'm sooo looking forward to my own bed tonight - memory foam, I'd like to meet the person who invented that and buy them a drink.

One last animal story from our last morning in Devon. One of the dogs came in with a full pot of yoghurt in her mouth. I managed to get it away from her before she ate it and wondered where she'd got it from. Then a little later, one of the guests stopped me to say (imagine a very posh accent) she had left a pot of yoghurt outside her room (which has a door directly into the garden) on a little table to "keep it cool for her breakfast", but it had disappeared! "Oh" said I, "fancy that, one of the gulls must have got it!" Quick, or what? I'm not making this stuff up, honest.

Jenney, hope the first chemo wasn't too awful.
Laila, cheers for the massage instructions, I'll give it a go.
Lorraine, hope the chemo today went smoothly.
Paula, a newbie folder is a great idea, wish I knew how to set one up. It would have to be a document we could all contribute to and be easily accessible to newcomers. I'll have a think, but I'm sure there must be more techno savvy people on here than me, so hopefully someone will already know how to do it. Incidentally, 6 miles a day, muscle mass - bloody hell girl, are you superwoman or something?
Lesley - Hi, and welcome to Share. How I remember those steroid days (and nights) Sorry you had a rough time with the chemo, hope the next one goes better.
Jean, loved the blackbird story, and why didn't I think of recycling my head hair?
Maddona - those primark bras - I've had a mastectomy and haven;t yet had a recon. Would they still be suitable? The pocketed bras I'm buying at the moment do cost a small fortune.
Love and hi to Stef, Sam, Chelle and everyone else.

    Kay xx

Hi Kay, glad your back safe and sound, nothing like your own bed!!!
I have a very brainy teckie friend who has very kindly offered to help us out. It seems the only way it can be done is to add the link each time we post. It would be a useful tips folder, obviously it can't be a medical fact folder just tips from people who have been there and can share medicines tips, information and general stuff that helped them with different stuff. Each person would be able to add their own tips but it would have to be made obvious it is not a discussion forum and for that it is the Macmillan site which is invaluble. It is also something that could be added to as time goes on and as people hopefully get better and maybe don't post as much it can will be carried on by the once newbies.
    What do you think anyone????

    Hi Paula

Sounds good. I hope we can make it work.

I wonder if you should contact the Mac site direct and tell them what we are considering doing. They may be able to help in some way. For example creating "something" (technical term!) that can't be used for discussion, but can only be used for adding tips. I don't really know as I am not a PC guru!

The other thing is that they may not approve of us setting this up. There may be rules and regulations that we don't know about. You know "health and safety" and all that crap!

Anyone else got any thoughts on this?

    Love Jean xx
