    Hi everyone

Aaaaaargggggg!!!!!!!!!! My car won't start. It's quite a while since I drove it, went to check it was ok and the battery is flat. I'll have to call the RAC out tomorrow, A small thing i know in the scheme of things but bl**dy annoying. Especially a B kept saying to me I shoud check it to make sure it's ok. I haven't told him that it's not.

Also, why when i am starting to relax and wind down in the evening does B suggest that I should do something like check the household accounts. I would like to say I'll do it tomorrow, but then he gets cross and says things will get in a mess and it will be more difficult to sort them out. AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGG!!

    Moan over.

Just checking in with everyone. Hope you had a relaxing day today Gayle. I love your picture of martin showing off his car. It reminds me of when my dad got his Merc. He was so pleased with it.

Izzy, I hope things are ok with you. Take care when you're driving it sounds horrible where you are.

Hope everything is ok with the rest of you. It's B's last RT treatment tomorrow, so I am wondering how he will be over the next few weeks.

    Evening all
Sitting in my office listening to the rain pounding down on the roof! its been really wet here today and the snow has all gone.

Izzy fantastic news - so pleased hubby is home and feeling better - take care of one another x

Carrie - I know exactly what you mean - I have the same thing going on here too!!! FRUSTRAITING

Gayle - So far so good still matthew seems to be ok on the drugs - he is still working of course up at 6am out at 7am and back at 5pm - how the hell he has managed to do it the entire time I have no idea but admire him for his guts and determination - think this is what has kept him going for so long. it does scare me though as acording to the docs he shouldnt be able to do what he's doing! i phone him 3 times a day to make sure he is ok and he gets so annoyed with me! The drugs he is on are Pazopanib & Lapatinib - 1 stops blood supply to tumour and 1 stops the cancer signals getting to the tumour - or so I belive! We have a scan end of feb and get the results 5th march - this will then tell us if its doing anything. he does seem more tired and paler since he started taking the drugs in fact he is in bed now having a sleep, pleased to report that his blood pressure is ok - I HOPE never done it before but they have lent us a flash electric machine to take it!!! - hope alls ok with you?

Lesley, Joan, Charlie, CH, Karen - and anyone else I have missed - SORRY if I have! hope your all doing ok too?

    take care

    Hello everyone

What a day! We managed to get the car sorted. A new battery, £100.00, but it’s the first time we’ve had to change a battery and the car is nearly ten years old so we’re not doing too badly. It just doesn’t get driven much at the moment.

B has developed a chesty cough, which along with a bad back meant that it took a carer, one of our sons and me about an hour to get him up and dressed this morning. His back hurt so much it was really difficult to get him out of bed. He travels to RT by ambulance on a stretcher so he can be transferred more easily on to the treatment table. This is fine except that it meant his back hurt a lot when he had to get out of the ambulance. He needed gas and air in the end! We told him he was being a drama queen because it was the last time he was going for treatment. He’s now back in his comfy chair, tired but ok but it will be another night for me on the sofa while he sleeps in the chair. I know some people may this the idea is awful, but on Wednesday B will be going in to our local hospice for a while so they can try and sort out his back and generally make him feel more comfortable. Our local community nurse said she was surprised he didn’t need to come in before now.

Izzy – so pleased to hear that your hubby is now back home with you. One of the saddest things we find with the way B’s tumour has affected him is that he can’t cuddle me in bed. He has to lie on his back and can’t move and the pillow raiser that he uses means he lays about six inches above my level (if you can imagine that?) and it also means I can’t get too close to him.

Gayle – I’ve been looking for the jump leads and now found them. I’ve put them in the back of the car. Enjoy the snow. We have just got heavy rain down here now. At least now B’s RT has finished we don’t need to go anywhere tomorrow so we can stay inside warm and dry.

Emma – really pleased to hear everything is going so well with you. It constantly amazes me when I read of Matthew still going to work. They can be so tough and determined sometimes can’t they.

Hope everyone else is ok and not too wet or snowy.

    Hi everyone

Just back in from the hospital, its such a long day, I am very tired so Martin is alot more tired than me as you can imagine, first of all could not get a parking space had to park at hospital entrance take Martin into the clinic, then come back out and circle about for 45 min until eventually someone left, then we sat and waited for wht seemed like hours and saw Dr Stefan for 5 mins, then sat in the pharmacy for hours waiting on chemo its really frustrating, off to make the dinner now, hope you are all well.

    Hi people,

izzy - Glad to hear your hubby is home, you must be so relieved to have him back - hope he's continuing to improve?

Gayle, is that Martin's 4th round of chemo? what a long day for a short consultation. Hope your all resting up. Have a wee question on diabetes to ask you...do you think a high dose of dex would put blood sugar levels up? Ever since my dad was put back up to 6mgs from 3mgs a few weeks ago (after his dysphasia and chest infection episode) when his blood is tested its always high. I think he probably needs his Glicizide tabs increased to combat the dex.....but who am I? Im certainly no medic but just seems to make sense! probably best phone diabetic clinic tomorrow.

Carrie - car trouble is so annoying - ive just paid £450 for my car failing its MOT - my car isnt even worth much more than that - BAH!

Emma - your hubby still amazes me....just brilliant - this could be the trial with amazing results

Jo - hope all is ok at your end.

    love to all xxx

    Hi everyone

    Thought I’d better check in.

Izzy – I’m pleased that you have your husand back with you and I hope that everything is OK.

Gayle – I know what you mean about the frustration of hospital parking. It’s horrendous, of course they want people to travel by other more eco-friendly means but they don’r seem to realise that it’s just not possible with some illnesses. Even with Mum’s arthritis we weren’t able to as it was so uncomfortable for her. As for what she’s got now, there’s no way I’d let her travel on public transport.

Carrie – If it helps, give the car car a kick (the tyre, of course), I have in the past and although it didn’t make the car work any better, it was a good release for me!

Emma - I didn’t know your husband was still working, he sounds absolutely amazing. Long may he continue.

Unfortunately, I don’t have good news from my end. Mum is still in hospital and is bedridden, she can’t talk very well and gets frustrated if she can’t find the words to say. She is also unable to feed herself or drink without assistance. At the moment, they’re treating her with Dex and an antibiotic as tests show that she’s got an infection. I have to say, I've lost it quite a few times over the last couple of days and I’m finding it hard to stay positive. We have a ‘Big C Centre’ at the hospital so I popped in there today just to have someone to talk to face to face. I also picked up quite a bit of information, as they don’t think that Mum will return totally to being her independent self and may need help when she does finally come out. I know that she won’t like that. Sorry to be on such a downer but this all seems to have happened so fast.

    Take care everyone

    Karen
