    Hi Emma

Thats fantastic news, I am so happy for you Mathew and the girls you deserve a few glasses of wine after all the worry you've had but I agree probably best not too incase of any side effects. You are turning into a proper nurse blood pressure too check lol. Is the medicine oral form also, what is the name of it again?? Send us some of the snow up here we have not had very much keeps coming and going, well have a nice peaceful night with your family you deserve it after the long day you have had.

    Hi everyone

As I’ve been at work this week, this is the first chance I’ve had to post as it’s getting to the busiest part of my year.

I am sorry to read about the problems that people are facing at the moment. I hope that things get better for you all. Gayle, I hoped you’re feeling better today. I just wish I had a magic wand so that nobdy had to go through this.

Over the weekend mum had suffered with headaches and I was hoping that they were just stress ones due to the diagnosis. However, Monday she said that the headache was worse and after talking to the nurse, they have upped her steriods (she’s on Dex….). The difference was noticable and Tuesday she felt able to come with me to the dog training club to see some of her friends. That was good to see.

We’re off to our local hospital for the first appointment with the consultant, so I guess we’ll learn more tomorrow.

I haven’t been posting very long however, you are all with me on a daily basis and you help me get through the tough moments. Take care all of you.

    Hi Karen

Glad to hear that your mother is feeling better and that she was able to go out with you and meet some friends, dex is a real miracle, but unfortunately it has some bad side effects, hopefully they wont be to bad for your mum some people get them some dont. When you go to see your consultant tomorrow you ask as many questions as you want, however silly they may seem, they have probably been asked a thousand times before. Take care.

    Hi everyone

It seems like so much has happened to everyone over the last few days. It goes like that sometimes doesn’t it?

No more snow in Sussex so far, but may have some tomorrow. We still have the remains of three huge snowballs in the garden which haven’t melted yet.

Emma – It’s really good news that Mathew’s been accepted on the trail, but such a lot for you to do. Is the hospital good at giving support when you need it. We were talking to a patient while we were waiting for RT yesterday and he said the Royal Marsden was a fantastic hospital. I hope it goes well for you. I know what you mean about not drinking. I often think I would like a drink, but B is so unsteady on his feet that I have to keep my wits about me.

Gayle – Hope you’re feeling better. It’s horrible when we feel ill because we have to keep going. I’m lucky because my two boys (B’s stepson’s) are older and so they will do things to help, but I don’t want them to be dragged down too much by this. Considering that B is not their real dad they are brilliant with him which helps me such a lot We haven’t got water pills for B’s swelling. No one has suggested it, but what with the pills he’s now taking for his back pain it’s getting to the point where I could easily lose track of what he’s taking. B has had his bad back for as long as I have known him (8 years). He’s back in bed tonight having spent 2 nights in his recliner with me on the sofa. I’ll se glad to be back in bed for a better night’s sleep.

Izzy – BTs are horrible. I’ve not been up against one as long as a lot of you but it affects all of us so much in so many ways. Sending you a big hug.

Joan – So sorry that things aren’t going so well at the moment and that you are feeling so low. . I’m dreading when/if B starts the 6 months tmz. His mobility is poor enough as it is and his concentration and reasoning have been affected. I dread to think what it may be like then. He can be so argumentative and convinced he is right about things that sometimes I just go along with him for a quiet life. Last night (at 3.00 am) he told me there was a black furry rat eating something by his chair. I half thought it might be something the cat had brought in, but this morning he told me it was a joke. He doesn’t seem to appreciate that when you are tired I don’t always see the funny side. I’m glad your daughter is helping you. They can really surprise you sometimes can’t they with the way they handle things.

Karen – My hubby B had a really bad headache and sickness on Tuesday so we upped his dex slightly and, after a nights sleep, this seemed to do the trick. I also try to make sure he drinks lots of water. It’s good to hear that your mum is feeling better too.

Hi to everyone else hope things are as well as they can be with you.

    hi all
Joan - "icicles on your trossachs"?? never heard that before! the trossachs are a range of hills just north of stirling, and very beautiful too. seriously though, sorry to read of your hubby's problems on TMZ - it is a bigger dose they get than with the radio so the sdie effects can come as a surprise. My hubby always felt extra tired but fortunatley little else, till he had to stop because of the shingles, though he's back on it now. it is horrible isn't it, just when you think things are stable something else crops up. I think over time you do come to an acceptance of the reality of the situation, however heartbreaking it is.

    Hi Everyone

The gp is just away, Martin has had a tummy bug, just thought we would get it checked to be on the safe side but all seems to be ok thank god. Today we also got a wheelchair delivered from the hospital, hopefully this will help Martin to get out and about more.

Karen, hope all goes ok with the hospital today.

Carrie, strange what you say about your hubby saying strange things like that in the middle of the night, Martin does this as well not so much lately but he used to always imagine strange things then go into to fits of laughter at 3/4am, I spoke to our nurse about it she said its sensuary seizures, hallucinations and strange tastes.

Emma, hope you have a stress free day, after all your stress yesterday, how is Mathew after his new treatment?

Lesley, hope all is well with you and your over your flu.

Joan, hope you feel better again today and hope David is better, the high dose chemo really is quite so on our husbands, take care

Diane, you are so right with the word heartbreaking, hope your hubby is well

    Hi everyone,
Joan, I've been reading your post and just wanted to say I hope you both feel much better very soon. Big hug ((xx))

Though TMZ is always described as well tolerated, it's still a big drug to take isn't it. Well I suppose it has to be.  B is taking 200mg for 21/28 days and today is the first day of his 4th cycle and the difference in him is remarkable. He often sleeps badly when taking it and so is very tired today. Also his appetite is much less than normal. Though he's OKish today, it's such a huge change from just yesterday when, having had the week off to recover he felt quite normal and had so much more energy. 200mg is not a huge dose, but 21 days is long time to take it.
    My best to everyone reading.
    Love CHxx .
