    Morning All

Did not bother with a wee drink last night, as we are all going out today as a family,. first time for many months Martin feels up to it. So I did not want to risk having a few, incase it led to more! Then Id be unable to drive today. Really looking forward to going out with Martin and Martine, we are off to sunny salcoats to meet some friends and go for a meal and take the kids to the amusements, nothing to exciting but the most we have done together in months, then tonight it will be vimto time!!

Lesley, Martin is still talking as much well he has calmed down ever so slightly he goes from one extreme to the next this illness is so unpredictable, hope you and the kids feel better over the weekend not many people are missing the dreaded flu, I still say a medicinal wine would work wonders lol.

Emma, hope you Mathew and the kids are well, keep strong this new trial will kick the tumour right in the a**.

Joan hope things are better for you and D and that he is feeling lots better take care'

Izzy hope your husband is doing ok with chemo.

Carrie hope all is well with your husband and you and the rt is not to tireing.

    Hi people,

Noticed the following on prescription charges on the Samantha Dickson website - you might already know, but I didnt so I'll post just in case it might be helpful!

"As of today, 21st January, cancer patients will be able to apply for their exemption certificates for their free prescriptions from 1st April 2009. All cancer patients undergoing treatment for cancer, the effects of cancer or the effects of cancer treatment are now encouraged to apply for exemption certificates from their GP surgery or oncology clinics".

    take care
    Lesley

ps - Gayle - hope your having a lovely day with your family - sounds great. xx

    Hi All,

Had a thumping headache this morning - which is unusual for me but think it may of had something to do with the wine I drank last night! Thanks for all your support - I was feeling so low yesterday even though I knew it had grown as he isnt on anything to try and stop it, but I guess the shock was by how much and the fact the drs were shocked at how well he is compared to the size of the BT. Anyway today was another day and back to my old self again.

Gayle I hope you have had a fantastic day out & M & M enjoyed it & you managed to relax a little.

Joan I hope today was better for you too?
    Izzy hows the chemo going?
Lesley - Out tonight eh - Behave yourselves (HA HA!) have a great night out! Thanks for the reminder about prescription charges every little helps so they say!

Just wanted to say that I made a few calls today to our gas & electric suppliers they wanted to hike our monthly direct debits up by more than double which we simply couldnt afford - when I explained situation they asked me if we spend more than 10% of our income including any taxable benefits on fuel - got put through to this department and they worked it all out and we do spend more so we now get a 20% discount which should save us about £500 a year and its valid for 2 years - thought that bit of info might help anyone else struggling with heating costs - always worth a call!

Anyway off to cook fillet steak and chips for hubbie now - he is feeling low today - cant be bothered mood he says so have a list of jobs for him for tomorrow to keep him going! sounds mean but it makes him get up and gives him something to do!!!

Hope you all have a peacefull evening and some cheeky vimtos!

hi all, hope you had a great day in sunny Saltcoats gayle, bet it was freezing, cold wind blowing in off the sea etc! Do you ever go over to Arran?
Lesley, thanks for info on prescriptions. I'm not sure if it applies in Scotland though -might be just England and Wales- must find out - as they are working towards making all prescriptions here free eventually, aren't they?

    Hi Everyone

Lesley, Martin has been getting free prescriptions since he was diagnosed with diabetice, our gp told us about, I thought your gp would have told you sorry, call your health centre on monday your dads gp will fill in the form and the exception form gets posted out to your home address. I do think its disgraceful that diabetics got free prescritions before cancer patients? Where are you off to tonigh? Is your flu alot better, hope you and the kids are feeling better.

Emma, glad to hear that your feeling a bit better today, it must have been a real shock for you yesterday, if it was me I would have had a gallon or 2 of wine too, at least Mathew is feeling quite good and as I said before he will do well with the new drugs it will obliterate the bloody thing, I work for a utility company(although I have not been there for 7 months) and I did know about the social tariff but it completely slipped my mind I shall have to call our provider and see what they say as you say every penny helps. Are you having some wine tonight?

Joan hope you and B are doing better.

Izzy hope chemo is going ok.

We had a lovely day just got home, we went for a nice italian meal with friends although Martin took a slight seizure in the restaraunt, but it passed quickly thankfully, then we took the kids to the amusements its the first time for months Martin has went out unless he has hospital, and he is already talking about the next time which is great.....So now its nearly time for em VIMTOS......

    Hi Emma

Gp has upped Lamoutrigine but Martin still keeps getting seizures some big and some small, I called the hospital over a week ago and I am still waiting to hear from them, they must be really busy, there is only 2 consultants and 1 nurse at our clinic, I also asked some other advice but have not hear yet.

Think I'll go get a wee vimto now enjoy your wine, and your nans birthday party also.

    Hi

I'm new and would give anything not to be here. My mum has been diagnosed with a GBM (last Thursday) however I didn't realise there were different grades, the doctor didn't tell us. What we have been told is that with this type most people live an average of 15 months and as it's mum's 69th birthday next week, what a great present! At the moment we are both stunned and angry, she has battled with Rheumatoid Arthritis for over 20 years and has kept going and now she has to face this, I just can't believe it. We are currently waiting for an appointment at our local hospital regarding radiotherapy treatment (her biopsy was done elsewhere) and I wanted to ask if people had any questions that they would recommend that we ask or wished they had asked. We have been told because of the postion of the tumour that they do not want to operate at all as it could affect her vision and / or leave her with a weakness down one side. We do know that the blasted thing is just over 4.5 cm in length and nearly 3 cm wide and it has taken up residence in the parietal lobe. It's amazing how many facts you remember from a 5 minute consultation!!

    Hi Jampix

sorry that you find yourself here this is such an awful illness, you will be in so much shock at the moment I know that I certainly was it took me a few weeks to ask most things because at the beginning I was too scared, but eventually I did and I learned alot more along the way, has chemo been disussed with your family yet? If there is anything you want to know just ask someone on here will be able to ask, we all have some experience now unfortunetly, if you read my profile you will see what we have been through. You will meet alot of lovely people here just wish it was better circumstances, take care.
