Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally.
In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.

Indeed I am still very active and had a really good day, Im glad I ate my tea earlier tonight as now we are watching im  a celebrity and trust me, my appetite is no more, but it was good earlier. done some clearing up outside and general gardening.  I also fixed up the tv in the kitchen and in my study.I feel really good and the only after effect from my recent Gamma knife surgery is raging tinnitus. Linda has been out today being pampered with a couple of friends at some health spar whilst Kate went out with her friend for the day.  Luckily  Justin has been about to keep me company.  I hope your day has been good.

Hi Dianne and thanks for your comments. Children are far more resilient than we realise but Kate is indeed a little star. I wish you and your family good luck and I will read your profile as soon as I have written this, take care

Thanks  Diane. your Mum has certainly put up one hell of a fight and she has achieved so much and it is heartbreaking to get this far and then be forced to give in. she has done so well and you should be very proud of her. We all have a uncertain future and rely heavily on a lot of good luck as well as our own personal strengths. It is time to make the most of any time left and create those memories. Good luck and god bless.  x

Thank you for the love and support you have given me this week during our 'extra little crisis',  when you yourself have been for treatment and had so much to deal with.

    Love you

I have felt pretty good again today and have been busy most of the morning getting ready for our new bed to be delivered tomorrow. We moved our old bed, which is not good for my back, up for Justin to use and relocated his bed into spare room. I also put up a few pictures and did a spot of carpet cleaning. All in all a good day and am now looking forward to seeing my sister from America later this week. I have taken the whole week off work and we plan to take Sally and little Emily in to London to visit the sights. Kate is really exited about seeing her cousin and im sure it will do her so much good.
