Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally.
In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.

Well done Linda, 'beep beep' very polite, they don't deserve that at all. What is wrong with these people. I wonder if they ever realise how lucky they are..... No wonder Bob's so tired. x

Glad to hear your Dad is doing okay today and you all raised his spirits. Remember to take care of you, too.

    Love, Ang xxxxx

  • Oh Linda, I think 'beep beep' is too kind! I would just ********************** them!

Glad things are easing just a touch for your Dad, but Bob sounds as if today was a bit hectic....but then your dear hubs wouldn't have it any other way, which is what makes him such a star!

love and hugs to you all

Linda love it was an honour to sponsor your lovely girl, you must be so very proud of her.

As far as Bob's employers go, I am unable to put into word how I really feel as I know a ban would be the order of the day. A flippen disgrace!!!!!!!, tell Bob not to let it get him down, he is worth so much more love as you all are.

    My love to you all

    Maryxxxxxx

Sounds like a good plan Kate, hope you week has been good.

Thank you very much to everyone who has sponsored Kate,    Pat S, Wendy B, Sita, and Dulcie

Our Kate gets so excited when she sees someone has sponsered her, i know i am a bit biased but she is such a chip of the old block, just like her Dad, and is always thinking of how she can help others.

Dad continues to do well, he really seems to have no idea why he has had surgery, which i think is probably best until histology and a plan are received.

Bob remains utterley knackered, but full of fighting spirit, and if work wanted a battle they have certainly got one on their hands now. I only hope they never have to face a time like Bob has.

Everytime my back is turned Bob is up to something, this time crawling round the garden doing some weeding lol.   Tonight Kate is at a sleepover so we have been out for a meal with Tom and Katie which was really nice, on the way back Bob's back went into spasm and he ended up with one leg on the dashboard!!He anounced on the way to the meal he felt rather unwell, then said as i had been out  'oh i forgot to eat today'

I like to say we have a quiet weekend planned but not by the sounds of it, checking a friend house tomorrow who is doing a renovation and Sunday planning to visit Tom and Katie to help with something or other, plus visiting Dad.  Would not have it any other way really lol

    Love to all

    Linda and Bob x x

A fair day today. I had a real good sleep and did not wake till five. Once light I fed Molls and took her for a nice long walk.Last night Myself and Linda decided the rest of my hair needed to come off as it was so patchy it made me look even sicker. I have even earned a new nickname, "badger" as it looks like a badgers markings. At that point Justin and Matt said they would have short haircut to keep me company. So today I set up Bobby Badgers Barbers in my garage and Matt was my first customer, he settled for a number 6 all over. Then in descending order Justin settled for a number 2, I was shaking a bit as all his hair hit the garage floor but he was ok with the result. Then it was my turn to have my number 0. Linda did the honours. it feels a bit strange but im getting less self concious of it. It now needs a bit of sun to colour my poor white bonce.  I then spent a bit of time with Linda re-arranging our lounge around before going for a photo shoot to do with our dodgy drains. Later we took Kate to a fun swim before popping to see Lindas dad. he is doing good and was in fine spirits. Now home, time to relax for a bit. Hope you all have a good weekend.
