Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally.
In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.

Thanks Fay and Helen.  A fair day today. this morning I did a couple of odd jobs around the house and managed to take Mollie for a fair walk. did a bit of work then in my study before having a shower. That was a bit nerve raking as I was expecting  for the rest of my hair to disappear down the plug hole. More came out and I havnt got a great deal left at all now. I'm  finding the hair loss a lot harder than I thought I would. I think its because it is such a reminder of this bloody illness.  This afternoon we went across to Stevenage for a meal with Julie and her family and we had a great time with good food and good company. Again I ate for England along with a glass of wine. Feel OK tonight, but tired. Tomorrow Katie and Tommy are coming over and I plan to cook a roast, if i can stay awake long enough. we will see.

We have all enjoyed a lovely meal cooked by Bob, but now he is totally pooped!  and sleeping well, his energy level have decreased since steroids have stopped, so maybe a review after weekend to see if he  needs to continue on them for a bit longer.

Kate has an abundance of Easter Eggs, so on quite a chocolate high this evening lol, now going to cuddle up and watch television together.

    Happy Easter everyone

    Love Linda x x

    Hiya all,

A fair day today. After a broken nights sleep as Linda's dad was taken suddenly in to hospital and we were waiting for news from Matt, who was on shift there. He seems to have some sort of blockage in his bowel,  I awoke about eight and managed to take Mollie for a walk before a relaxing sort of day. I did cook most of the tea tonight but feel hammered now. Tommy and Katie again came over for a while but Tom is so lively and noisy, for once I was relieved when they went home.  ready for sleeps and rest for the rest of the evening. Hope you all had a good bank holiday. The weather here has been really good for the most of it.
