Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally.
In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.

Last night was not a good night. , We were both tired and argued a lot after a long discussion and now hardly talking . Im sure things will be better in the cold light of day. IThe stress of cancer can make you very jittery at times.
  • Bob, so sorry.....if there's any comfort I can give, do feel free to p/m......or I suggest you contact GP/specialist nurse/counsellor/even Samaritans

whatever it is, the emotional drain of the cancer will make it harder. Maybe the new day will enable you to manage whatever has distressed you more ably.
I feel for you in your pain
    love and hugs

Thinking of you, and hope you find yet more strength to bear yet another difficulty in your life, whatever the cause. Hope most of all that the difficulty gets resolved and you and all affected come through to the other side of it.

    All the best, Julie.
  • Bob, everything has to suffer with this extra uninvited squatter in their lives......as that's what cancer is....sending you a big (((((((((((hug)))))))))of sympathy....

Thanks all. Talked again and feel a lot better.

Been in to work today but feel tired and restless tonight. Tomorrow is going to be a busy one as we have lots of jobs to do in preperation for Tommys wedding. I had a bit of a job printing of my speech but eventually managed it much to my relief. Kates "race for life" is going well and we have getting on for £1200.00. Our aim is to beat last years total and raise about £1700.00.
  • Bob, tonight? It was late indeed.....my sleep pattern too is a bit upside down at present, I seem to have trouble going off, then wake in the middle of the night, then trouble going off again, then late waking!

Glad you are preparing well for that speech, and really well done for Kate's fund-raising, bless her!

Linda is off to get her hair done whilst im resposible for Tommy and myself, yipes.
The marrage is at one oclock followed by a reception and evening doo. It promoses to be a great but emotional day and im really looking foreward to it.
