Hi everyone

I am just trying to navigate myself around the site.  Still struggling, but thought I would try and make a temporary place for the WTBT folk as we are all wandering round like lost souls at the moment- don't know if this will work- but worth a shot while Mac try and resurrect the old thread

Love Ali xxx

Dear CH  I read with terrible sadness that your husband has lost his fight against this terrible illness. My heartfelt condolences are sent to you at this sad time. At least he is now free from all pain & is at peace. Your love for him shone through in your posts & he couldn't have had a better carer than you. Love & big hugs. Suexxxxx

Dot What a lovely reading. Big hugs to you too. I know it must be tough. Sue xxxx

MandyR Thanks for caring when I went AWOL from the site!!  I know you have more than enough to cope with  too so sorry I added to your worries. Strange isn't it that most of us have never met yet as I said before all of the posters on WTBT are never far from our thoughts. And by the way I tried  what you said about your messages sent to me during my absence but they don't appear so either I am doing something wrong ( more than possible) or once again there is a problem with this new site ( again more than possible given the experiences so far. They haven't even finished writing their help notes!!!!!!) Anyway what you said about improvements when home from rehab is what I hope for indeed. Pete hasn't given up (nor I ) & as I type this he has been taken out by friends to the local pub to watch the England/New Zealand Rugby match. Normally he would have travelled to Twickenham to watch it but this was the next best thing. I promised myself some me time so am now going to M&S for a tea & cake & perhaps a little clothes shopping too...........have a funeral to go to on Thursday for a very good friend of ours & Christine's husband wants us all to turn up in the brightest of colours as Christine herself was very unique in her dress sense to say the least & I want to do her proud but have nothing that fits the bill or even fits!. Take care Suex

Susan 206  Sending love  & best wishes to you too. Once again thanks for caring.

To all. Thinking of you all & hoping that life is not too difficult for you at the moment with your loved ones.

    Good morning to you all.

What a sad week eh?  There is such a void on this train of ours at the moment and a drastic shortage of refreshments!  I'm having to brew my own tea and scrounge biscuits from the passengers. My friend, supporter and provider is, as you know, away for personal reasons. I'm hoping the blond may step into the domestic role for a short while,  Mandy I've heard your buns are something to behold?

Ch, we miss you and our thoughts will be with you on Wednesday.XXXX

Best wishes to each and everyone of you.

CH, I am so very very sorry to hear your news, it is indeed very sad and I really feel for you at this sad time.  You have been so very brave and always helped us with your kind words and support in our time of need so thank you.

    Martyn,

I was thinking of sending you some Turkish delight but thought you might not like it, so instead I will send over a belly dancer ,it will take your mind off food and provide your passengers and you with some entertainment.

    Hey TG,

What a dream, stuffing sweeties in my mouth while watching a belly dancer,  it doesn't get much better than that, well not these days anyway. I think an initial private showing is in order, I wouldn't want the passengers getting over excited!

    Hope you are keeping ok?

I belong to several yahoo Brain Tumour Groups and a site that emails me all the latest trials (which are sadly mostly based in the USA) and got this over the weekend.  Sorry if I am duplicating known info:

European advisory committee declines to recommend Avastin approval for deadly brain cancer

    By Alaric DeArment

BASEL, Switzerland (Nov. 20) A medical advisory committee in Europe has declined to recommend approval for a Roche drug as a treatment for a deadly form of brain cancer, Roche announced Friday.

The Swiss drug maker said the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use, which is responsible for initial assessment of drugs filed for regulatory approval in Europe, did not recommend approval for the drug Avastin (bevacizumab) alone or combined with the chemotherapy drug irinotecan for treating relapsed or progressive glioblastoma. Glioblastoma, or GBM, is the most aggressive type of primary malignant brain cancer.

The committee, which made its decision based on results of a mid-stage clinical trial that Roche had submitted, cited the lack of a comparator arm that included patients who did not take Avastin.

“We are very disappointed with the CHMP opinion, which will result in a delay to patients receiving an important new treatment option,” Roche Pharmaceuticals Division CEO William Burns said in a statement. “We strongly believe that Avastin is a new treatment option for physicians within the [European Union] which would bring hope to GBM patients and their families as it is today in the U.S. and other countries.”

    Hello

I'm not sure whether I am in the right place. My husband has been diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma. Not strictly speaking cancer as it is benign. However, a brain tumor never the less.

I was wondering if there is anyone else with this condition? Someone who is a little further down the path.

    Thanks for your time

    Hello Edith,

I am so sorry you have the need to visit this thread, but we will try our very best to give any help, support and advice you may need. You are very welcome! if that is the correct phrase?

I can't recall anyone with your husband's condition, but we do have many people who read without posting so maybe someone will appear with the relevant experience. It is often connected to tinnitus isn't it?  I shall have to ask Mr Google to find me some information.  Please read my profile and any others you wish to get an idea of our varying situations.

I hope to chat to you again and please give your husband our best wishes.

    Martyn.
