Hi everyone
I am just trying to navigate myself around the site. Still struggling, but thought I would try and make a temporary place for the WTBT folk as we are all wandering round like lost souls at the moment- don't know if this will work- but worth a shot while Mac try and resurrect the old thread

Hi all
Re PET scan (Y and Y and Maggiemum) - The scan distinguishes between cancerous and non cancerous cells by the way they process glucose- the cancer ones use more glucose and so can be identified. I believe that this can also be graded ie the faster growing the cells the more glucose they use.
http://www.cancerhelp.org.uk/help/default.asp?page=152 tells you more about it. I know there is a PET scanner at Nottingham, and several bigger cancer units across the country have them too. Sorry if you know all this already!
Love and best wishes to all.

My gosh it's quiet here today.
Hope you are all as weel as..
Jan now onto round 13 of TMZ as bloods have back OK today. MRI in early November.
Best wishes - Robin
Hi Robin, Could I ask if Jan went straight through with her Tmz cycles as she is now on round 13. I ask because my hubby has completed 6 cycles and MRI showed 50 per cent reduction. His onc doesnt want to see him until after Xmas and is reducing his steroids to wean him off them. Obviously the MRI in January will decide the next course of treatment but when you said Jan was on round 13 I wondered if she had a break or continued straight through?
Y&Y - Hi
Jan had her second debulk in September 2008 and has been on TMZ ever since. On her first round she had 2mg Dex/day, but as this did not appear toi have any particuklar benefit we stopped and she has had none since.
The TMZ has not managed to reduce the bulk of the tumour much at all, but it has held it in check; Jan is provig that she has good tolerance to TMZ.
I think this routine is different to taking TMZ in conjunction with RT, which she did not do as she had Glidial wafers inserted on her first debulkk in December 2007.
Hope thsi helps - Robin
Yes thanks Robin- I know every case is different. Hope it keeps the tumour at bay for a long time.
Hi Robin,
Don't know whether you saw earlier posts from Martyn, Mandy and CH but they are mostly posting on Facebook as has been so difficult to get to grips with new site and old WTBTseems to have disappeared. Sad isnt it I really miss it and feel sorry for new posters who may now find it difficult to get support and feel part of something.
My husband is very ill now but pleased that Jan is doing ok.
Best Wishes
Jean
Hi Jean,
So sorry to read that Paul is so poorly, our thoughts are with you both. We may not be posting so much, but we are looking out for anyone who may need advice and support.
Lots and love and best wishes to you both.
