Hi everyone

I am just trying to navigate myself around the site.  Still struggling, but thought I would try and make a temporary place for the WTBT folk as we are all wandering round like lost souls at the moment- don't know if this will work- but worth a shot while Mac try and resurrect the old thread

    Hi Daisie,
I think it's the amazing strength of this thread. We know we are not alone and can learn things from each other because there are few roadmaps in our world. xx

Martyn Darling, it's never too late to make small changes as you are doing. XXXX

    Night all,
    Miggins xx

I much prefer to be called Queenie if you don't mind!!!!!!!!!

Daisie, I'm glad we were able to help you, keep in touch and let us know how you go on - although we keep going with merry banter on here, we are always here to lend an ear, to listen to a rant or give support as is needed.  The laughter helps to lift the day so don't be put off - good luck on Monday xxx

Good morning all, I've been trying to catch up on recent posts but please excuse me if I'm not fully up to speed with what's happening in every body's lives yet. I am reliably assured by Mrs M that some of the security problems on this revamped site have been resolved so if there's still room for me, I'd like to squeeze into a corner of the carriage.

An update from us; Paul started Radio Therapy on the site of the migrated tumour this week. He had 2 sessions, has another 3 next week and the final 1 on Monday 21st. As always he takes it all in his stride and seems still to be doing pretty well bearing in mind it is now 21 months since this all started. I think I am more anxious about the RT this time because the Oncologist did warn us that although they have planned to avoid re-treating areas of the brain that were treated last year, there is a 1% chance of the new course causing necrosis. I also find it really weird going back to what used to be the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary but now has a new name. I thought pretty well everything had been moved to the huge new hospital but apparently there are still 2 RT machines at the DRI so although we had to go to the Royal for the planning appointments, the treatment is being done at the DRI. So much of the hospital has been closed down and parts of it boarded up and it feels like a ghost town as we walk along the huge long corridor that leads to the ONCOR suite and which used to be so busy. On the day of the first session, the heating had conked out so it was really cold as well.

It was his birthday yesterday so we had a nice quiet day together and I cooked him his choice of dinner last night- sirloin steak with fried onions and home made chips. He has never let me cook his steak before but he let me get on with it and said I had done it to perfection. I must admit I did have a few teary moments yesterday although I managed to hide it from him. We had decided to put our Xmas decorations up yesterday and although I usually love that, I was finding it hard because I kept thinking about my Mum and how much she loved Christmas... The crunch came when I opened the box where we store the Xmas tree. 2 years ago I had decided to have a new tree. I wanted something contemporary and I bought a black fibre-optic one. My girls hated it but I loved it. This year I looked at it and I just knew that with everything else that has happened this year, I couldn't face a black Xmas tree. I think Paul realised how I was feeling so he told me we'd go out and he'd buy us a new one so at 4pm yesterday it was down to the B&Q Xmas shop to buy a new artificial tree. We ended up with a huge,(6'6 high) traditional style green one with snow effect frosting. It's beautiful but it takes up a lot of space in the conservatory. We put the tree together and put the lights on yesterday evening and today we'll do the baubles etc. Paul is still asleep but I shall get him up for the Archers and we'll then finish off the decs. It's a lovely bright morning here in Burton but I can see from the frost on my car that it's very cold. Just the day for a walk in the woods with Bullseye.

Love to all, especially those who are facing difficult times in the journey we are making together.

    Good day to all,

It's very quiet on here today,  a good sign?  I sincerely hope so.

Hi Susan,  good to see you again, regards to Paul.

Mrs Miggins has gone to do a big shop, so hopefully there will be hot muffins and crumpets in the guards van tonight.  It's ages since I've had a muffin, looking forward to it.

Queenie went off to the pub for early doors, so it's anyones guess whether we'll see her later.

    Best wishes to all,

    Darling. XXXX

Quiet Sunday, I hope that means peeps are as well as possible.

So good to have you back Sue xx
I remember the black Christmas trees - Christmas isn't a time to be chique is it? Green and frosty sound much better.

The hospital sounds a bit grim but as long as the treatment is Ok.

You describe things so well, the quite desperation of inward thoughts and fears and memories and external jolly. Christmas is a weird time really.

    Love to all reading,

    Miggins xx

You just can't get away from BT for long can you? Paul and I just watched BBC Sports Personality of the Year and were enjoying a bit of banter over whether his favourite, Jensen Button would beat mine, Mark Cavendish when Gary Lineker suddenly became very sombre as they did a feature about Seve Ballasteros and his "brave fight against brain cancer" and there was live coverage of Olazabal presenting Seve with a special award. It was so poignant and for a moment I really had to fight to hide a tear. Lovely, lovely man but aren't (weren't) they all???

Evening all - Just about managed to stop and catch up.

Susan - great to see (read) you again, welcome back - as always there is always space for one more - but you had a reserved seat anyway!!

Martyn - I thought you said Queenie's hair was blonde? Latest pic seems to suggest a scary moment with the Henna bottle or do I need to clean my specs?

Well the guards van ahs been the place to be this weekend - Late night party followed by a traditional seasonal day with open fire, toasted crumpets and muffins with the heady aroma of hot marmite and patum paternum, not to mention the mulled wine and roast chestnuts.

Just seen a re-run of Seve on the news - he's not the man I saw on TV four or five months ago.

I have now finished cathcing up with Jan's firends and relatives so they are now up to speed with latest developments - just waiting for Wednesday now.

Love and best wishes to all  - Robin

    Dear Y&Y,

I am just back home and so so sorry to read about the scan results.  I can't offer anything additional to the wise words of those who are on this train, but am sending you both much love and strength, (keep cuddling).

(Martyn - TCO's a-plenty, (if you've the room after the crumpets and chestnuts of yesterday!))

    Take care all

    Leah

Good?morning to all,  not very good here I'm afraid, p----g down, cold and miserable,  but we've both woken up this morning so no complaints.

Hi Leah,  the crumpet never turned up and my chestnuts were cold, so had to make do with a nibble of Miggin's buns.

Robin, best wishes when you see the oncologist on Wednesday.  Hair colours/Queenie!  I should keep off that subject if I were you, don't mention the turnips or the Brazilians either!!

Off to shop,  best wishes to all.
