Hi everyone

I am just trying to navigate myself around the site.  Still struggling, but thought I would try and make a temporary place for the WTBT folk as we are all wandering round like lost souls at the moment- don't know if this will work- but worth a shot while Mac try and resurrect the old thread

Love Ali xxx

Me too - not to mention thirsty. Are we anywhere near the border yet?

Getting decidedly cooler down here as well.

PS - Been trying to work out how newbies can find us here on WTBT - it's not very easy is it, more of a sort of "by accident sort of thing". Can't decide if we are a Group or a Forum and even if you try both and you know what you are looking for, WTBT doesn't exactly pop up. Still, guess it's a good job no bodies in dire need eh?

    Hi Robin,

I think all we can do is try to keep the thread on the first page.  There really appears to have been a lack of thought by the designers towards the actual users of the site and will we ever really know whether any folk in dire need didn't manage to find us? I sincerely hope that is not the case.

I used to be stationed at Hadrians Camp, Carlisle during my army service, not I must add when Hadrian was the Commander! and we used to have regular excursions up into bandit land.  I recall one Hogmanay, well I don't really, when I spent 5 days in East Kilbride and apparently never spent more than one night in the same house.  The problem was, that we were only on 3 days leave!  Oh happy days?  no not really.

    Best wishes to all,

    Martyn.

Good idea, but that is going to be tough. Just found your "recent" post on page two already.

I assume that the reason you only spent one night in each bed was that you weren't invited back again ! Not even to apologise. :) Hope you did lots of first footing too. We will be in the north for new year this year, should be a welcome break for me and the troops here. At least we will be able to collect the car we left up there in August, it's finally been fixed (waiting for spare part)!

Time to retire to bed, need some sleep.

Hope you and Doreen are both well.

Best wishes - Robin and Janice

PS - Any meets planned for the new year yet?

PPS - Ever tried the chat room? - it's manic !

You're right Robin, this is not easy to find. I hope people who need it are finding it though. When I first came on this site looking for answers/support about a year ago I am glad it was much easier to negotiate and I found a place which has become very important to me. I've never looked at the chat room...

My Dad is still in hospital. He had a stroke during his second (and unsuccesful) operation and has left sided weakness. What he really needs is some good rehabilitation to get him walking so he can come home. Instead he is stuck on a neurosurgery ward getting no rehab input at all. He is just lying in a bed all day when he should be seeing physiotherapists & speech tharpaists etc. Very frustrating. I am so desperate to get him home.

We are currently awaiting his transfer to a hospital in London which is near where I live. It will make life so much easier. I have a 16 month old boy who is not allowed on the ward. My partner works. I have no transport. I have been able to find family who can look after my son for the last two weeks but this week it's just me. I have been living in my Dad's house and travelling for 4.5 hours on public transport every day to visit my dad for 2 hours during visiting times. It is emotionally draining and exhausting. I don't know how I can see him this week if he doesn't get his transfer soon (there will be no-one else visiting him as it's just me & my brother who is at work too). He has been accepted in London it's just a case of waiting for a bed to become free.

Sorry to go on like this. As I'm sure you know it sometimes feels better to get it off your chest and have a bit of a rant! Thanks for giving me a place to do that.

Thinking of you all especially CH & Dot xx

Back to the "how do you find us theme"

I have tried Brain cancer groups and neither WTBT nor Why Why Why feature on any of the four pages containing 62 groups - have we upset someone?

Will keep searching. Perhaps it's just too logical.

Mandy R - Any ideas? You're good at this sort of thing !

Saw your post on WWW too. Very sorry to hear about your dad and the current incredible efforts you are having to go to, just to visit him. Do hope the transfer goes ahead soon.

I remember visiting Jan in August when she became ill and had to be hospitalized; it's quite clear that she doesn't recall the first week at all now. Doesn't make up for the 1.5 hour round trip for a 20 second "hello". So 4.5 hours deserves a few medals if you ask me.

Yes - good job you found us in the old days - these days it seems like encrypted SatNav is necessary !

Fingers crossed - Best wishes - Robin

    Good morning all,

Robin,  for some reason we are a forum and not a group which is apparently the modern day equivalent of a bulletin board!  I suppose because I've changed my Mac settings to a 20 page view I am seeing more to the front page than anyone browsing, I must bear that in mind in the future.  By the way, Mandy is blond you know!!!

Hi Green Tree,  I do hope they sort a bed out very quickly, you have enough to contend with without all that travelling.

I have spoken at length to CH since the funeral and she is some remarkable lady.

    Best wishes to all,

    Martyn XXXX

Just thought I'd better add that although Mandy is blond she is very, very clever. We do meet up with her and Peter occasionally!

    Hi

Did anyone else get an email from Mac's Online Community - Automated Email?

A message from Sandamali whose husband has an Anaplastic Oligodendroglioma G3

Well - I didn't know you could do that (send emails from the Online Community)! How observant am I ?
