Hi my name is Emma and I’ve not posted before. My husband was diagnosed with cancer Aug 26. He was suffering with a glazed, blurry eye so was referred to opticians then to local hospital and then on to the Royal in Liverpool where it was confirmed he had lesions in both eyes. After further investigation we have found out its primary is the lung which has spread to the eyes, brain, adrenal glands, lymph nodes and spine. He has had radiotherapy on his eyes and spine and has had his 1st Chemo treatment last week. Before chemo he suffered a mild heat attack so they are slowly introducing 2nd chemo and then hopefully immunotherapy.
We have 2 children 16 and 10 I’m holding it together the best I can but it’s really been tough. I’m trying so hard to support my husband who is a closed book so find if hard to emotionally help him. I hate watching him struggle he’s lost his sight in both eyes now so this has been the worst part of all. I feel like he’s wasting away in front of my eyes.
I’m lucky to have massive support around me but I still feel so alone in my thoughts and grief of it all. I’m very fearful of what lies ahead but most of all I don’t know how to help My husband come to terms with it all
I’m up late most nights, once everyone is asleep
Hi MrsEmma75 This is an awful situation for you and your husband and I cannot even imagine how upsetting all this is. I can easily imagine you sitting awake most nights full of worry. Do you have family and friends that you could lean on to talk through your worry? If not, then this is a good place to bare your soul.
I cannot offer much more than sympathy-I wish I could offer more-but just know that you've done a good thing coming here and relling us of this awful situation. Sending every best wish and hugs x
Thank you. I have loads of support around me who I can chat to. I find it easy to talk about it when I’m feeling ok but when I’m at my worst, late at night, I really struggle to speak to anyone about it. Had a better day today. Dragged myself to McMillan and had a good cry on lovely lady who referred me to Charity mind matters as we all need support. Managed to have a bit of a breakthrough with my husband today so it’s been a very emotional day x
That's very encouraging! Good for you Emma, and 'dragging yourself' very well describes how we sometimes need to pick ourselves up by our bootstraps if the end result merits it !!! Delighted to hear you mention the small breakthrough -hope is always there !
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
