Tring to support him he thinks it's not a problem

  • Hi

Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both informative and supportive.

Can I ask what type of cancer your husband has and how far down the path from diagnosis he is. My wife's diagnosis took quite a while and some of her treatment was quite difficult but the oncologists managed to make her cancer stable and so for now she is living with cancer.

Something that I found helped me was looking at Your feelings when someone has cancer because it is important we look after ourselves too if we are to be much help to anyone else.

  • He has prostate not spread . He is on hormone and radiotherapy to come. I tried so hard to jump hoops to help him. As soon as I objected for his outburst we have not spoke. Things he gets at me so unreal. I am one for politeness and he now saying I object if I don't get a cup of tea in bed. So untrue. 5 days now same clothes I dare not say anything.

  • Hi

From what you say it sounds like your husband has done pretty much the right thing in getting checked up when he noticed an issue and that is really positive. I wonder if some of the information in the pages on Early (localised) prostate cancer might be helpful to you.

You might also like to look at our Prostate cancer forum where there will be people at all stages of dealing with this.

  • Hi

I am in similar situation. Husband diagnosed with metastatic kidney cancer 4 yrs ago. He still has no pain but struggles to deal with side effects if treatment and absolutely refuses to do anything to help himself and seems to blame me . He is still able to play sport twice a week but lives in his own world, totally self absorbed and unwilling to communicate.
Maybe we can just vent here?
