My mum is 64 and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that has spread to her liver, plus nodules on her spleen kidneys and lymph nodes. This showed on a ct scan just a few weeks ago. She had a ct scan only 8 months ago that was clear. I'm only 33 and just had a baby. I'm not sure how to deal with this. I'm beyond heartbroken. I'm reaching out to find people I can talk to who may be facing or having faced this heartbreak. Also if any one has any light on this. We're praying she's offered treatment ttomorrow. Pray  She faced a ruptured brain aneurysm only a few years ago and had to under go 2 major brain ops. Which she got the all clear in January. How can life be so cruel? I don't know how to get myself through this. She's my best friend.

  • Hi

Sorry to read about everything you are going through and with a new baby too. My mum was in hospital after a fall where she broke her hip at about the same time we had our son. Then she ended up getting MRSA and at one point was not expected to come out of hospital. She was in Cambridge and my wife was in Oxford so really quite torn.

When my wife was diagnosed with cancer, Leiomysoarcoma, something I found quite helpful was looking at your emotions when someone has cancer as I found being able to recognize these emotions and accept them as normal and valid i found helped to make them a little less overwhelming.

    <<hugs>>

  • Hi Kay,

I've had a very similar experience to you. Mum was just diagnosed a few weeks ago, she has never been seriously ill and is barely on any medication. It was a complete shock, hers is also stage 4 spread to the liver and some nodes.

she just started her chemo yesterday and touch wood its going ok. Im 34 and I recently moved from the UK for my husbands job, but now i’m back to be with her of course and I cant imagine my life without her.

Happy to share what i’m going through if it is of any help to you x
