just found out today my mum has terminal cancer , she was diagnosed back in november with ovarian cancer that had spread , my dad taken the news bad , i just dont know what to do, just feel terrible

Sorry to hear about your mum, it is never easy to hear about a cancer diagnosis but glad to hear that they have shared with you. Something I found quite helpful with my wife's diagnosis was looking at Your feelings when someone has cancer as being able to recognize these emotions and accept them as part of my new normal helped to make them less overwelming.
I ended up doing a living with less stress course that really helped me. Learning to live day to day rather that in a dark future I could not control but could easily make worse that it actually turned out. The breathing exercises were good too in both helping me relax but also in dealing with the next curve ball life decides to throw at us.
