Just working on practicalities at the moment and trying to think about what the next few months will look like. I'm a freelancer so don't get any leave as such, and also don't get paid when not working. I need to give clients an idea of how long I'll be gone for. Surgeon says my husband will be in hospital for 5-7 days; off work 4-6 weeks. Could anyone with experience of this give me an idea of what to expect on my side of things please?

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I haven't had surgery for bowel cancer I noticed your post.
I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also join and post this question in the bowel cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have had the same surgery as your husband. They should be able to give you an idea of how long it took them to recuperate so you can work out how long you might need to be away from work.
