Hello !
Back in May, my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer—prior to this he was officially declared bankrupt due to circumstance of his hands and fighting to save his business since 2022, which result in is loosing our family home (we are now renting). This was a stressful situation in itself. However husband diagnosis has put everything in to perspective and aLloyd focus has been on him.
It’s all been a huge shock to the system.
Despite everything, my husbands mindset has been incredible, and thankfully, treatment and chemo seem to be going according to plan. But we’re still in that uncertain “limbo” stage.
As a family, we’ve really tried to pull together and keep positive.. But lately, I’ve started to feel the cracks forming and I just don’t feel like we a cutting a break —last night, my 10-year-old put it into words I couldn’t ignore:
“Daddy has cancer.” Our hearts are broken
“Grandma and Grandad keep arguing.” they never argue-
“Mummy is stressed because the house is so messy.”the thought of eviction, downsizing with so much stuff is subconsciously stressing me out
“Me and my brother keep fighting.” Understandable
That hit me hard. She sees it all. And it made me realise just how much pressure we’re all under.
On top of that, I’m trying look for extra work to fit around home commitments, my car has been repossessed, we’re unsure whether the kids can stay at their current school, and there’s a very real risk we may be facing eviction soon.
I’m honestly not sure where to start. It all feels like too much, and I don’t know how to begin unravelling this situation or what steps to take next, who to speak for support.
If anyone has been through anything similar—or even if you haven’t but have any advice—I would really appreciate hearing from you. Right now, just knowing someone else is out there who has been thought similar and come out the other side would be soothing.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
