Hello I’m a 23 year old man from London my father passed away to lung cancer in 2023 and it caused me to move in with my girlfriend and her family and my mum to move a couple hours away to live with her mum as it seemed like the best option financially , my mum has now got cancer in the oesophagus that has spread to the stomach she is on palliative chemo treatment . I’m really struggling with knowing what to do I know there’s not much I can do, everyone just says be there for her but physically she’s wasting away and I worry for her and my nan who is caring for her is 86 I want her to have a carer I remember with my dad a couple macmillan members came to visit my dad and keep us the family informed and supported as well as nurses who would come and check in however with my mum it seems like there is none of this support and I wish someone could help me get this same support for my mum. It’s really difficult for any of us concerned in terms of finding out information about her cancer when I ask my mum she will just give little bits of information at a time and she’s not the sort of person to ask and ask and ask she just accepts whatever happens I personally can understand that approach as it may be the way she finds peace with it and the her fate I just would like her to have more support from the hospital and whoever really just anyone that can help she’s gone and bought herself a wheel chair because she is obviously feeling very weak she said I know I should just ask the hospital for it rather than buy things like this but they always end up doing other things you don’t want . Sorry for going on a rant but my heads all over the place
