My sister has been given a terminal diagnosis. Cancer in her liver and lungs with more scans this month as it may have spread further.. she is 58 and I want to support her but have no idea where to begin. We are devastated but I want to make sure that she can rely on me to be strong. Where do I start???? All advice welcome
Hi LT666
Sorry to hear about your sister, fingers crossed that the scans show little if any spread.
My experience with cancer is via my wife, her cancer is incurable but for now at least is stable so we are living with cancer rather than anything else.
One of the things I find quite helpful on here is looking at your feelings when someone has cancer in that being able to recognize the emotions and recognize them as normal can help make them feel less overwhelming. i did a living with stress course that helped me focus more on the here and now. The conscious breathing exercises are helpful to for when life decides to throw another curveball but also it can help me relax.
Sometimes of course people just want to be treated as normally as possible so doing things together where you can might be helpful.
<<hugs>>
Steve
