Hello does anyone have any tips for filling in the form for attendance allowance or PIP benefit's please?
Many thanks in advance. xx
Hi Pileu, I had a lot of help with my first AA form which was many years ago, for my mum. Since then I've successfully done my dad's, mother in laws, my husband's and supported several friends with theirs.
The best advice I can give is 'think about your worst day' . For example, there's a section about personal care. You may think 'yes, he can dress himself' ... but do you need to help with putting socks or shoes on and or/off? Night time support - do you always wake in the night when the person gets up, just to make sure they get back to bed safely? Medication - do you order and pick up prescriptions and ensure they take the right meds at the correct time? Do you pay bills for them, deal with correspondence and organise shopping? Do you do laundry and cleaning? Make sure they eat a healthy diet?
The list is endless. Don't think anything is too insignificant to mention ... going with person to medical appointments and helping them understand what's being said. Either driving them there or organising taxis.
It's worth doing though. Attendance Allowance is one of the most under claimed benefits and it really helps. Best of luck.
