My husband has a stage one bowel cancer not treated due to health conditions he also has advanced dementia memory problems
I keep reading on the internet people like him can live for 5 years but other apparently medical sites state one to two year. He doesn’t remember he has cancer from the moment we leave after appointments
I really need to have an idea because there is so much he keeps saying about places he wants to return to and things he’d like to .see.again
how much time do I have to make sure all his wishes are fulled before he gets too ill to enjoy them
Hi wisper
Many cancer survival statistics give a 5 year survival rate partially because after 5 years it can be difficult to distinguish between people who have died from cancer and those who died with cancer. You mention that your husband has other health conditions and that of course makes it even more difficult to work our what might happen.
When my wife was diagnosed she was very clear she did not want a prognosis and I really struggled with that especially as we had a young son. Nobody would have guessed in her case how well she would do though and with quite a lot of help we eventually got to living with cancer rather than anything else.
<<hugs>>
Steve
