Partner diagnosed with bowel cancer chased scans today to be told no longer having a CT colonoscopy but now a CT chest and abdomen to check for spread.
I know they got biopsy results today so is that why they have changed the type of scan.
im going out if my mind with worry as now it’s confirmed it’s so real and I don’t know how to calm my thoughts.
I know we need to be strong for them but I’m struggling as falling apart inside.
spoke to my Gp who said we just have to hope it’s not spread but the fact they are checking the spread makes me think that they have expectations it’s spread.
if it’s spread throughput the body I worry I only have weeks left with him.
this is so hard for me but he must be going through hell himself but is not talking about it at all.
any advice would be appreciated x
Hi Beanie, I am so very sorry you and your partner are going through this. Please know that it’s a standard procedure to do a full body scan, it doesn’t mean anything more than that. They cannot establish the treatment without it, it gives them a lot of information, not only if it’s spread. One piece of advice I can give you is to take it one day at a time, don’t think too much ahead. Furthermore, try to do things for your wellbeing as well. It’ll not only help you in the moment, but it’ll help build resilience and a toolkit for dealing with hard times.
I hope from the bottom of my heart that you hear good news and that you soon get past this obstacle. All the best x
