I posted my whole story on carers page a couple of days ago as I’m a new member
i woke up a few hours ago and just can’t feel my legs I have to go back to school on Monday and I’m always the smiley jokey teacher - say hello to everyone in corridors and entertain my classes
having received the news last Friday that my mum has 3-6 months as she has secondary liver cancer I have struggled to breathe - she is my best friend and we do everything together always have…..my 18 year old son is besotted with her and we are all broken she also is not unwell and looks fabulous which make it so much harder to deal with
I woke up this morning feeling so sad and I keep thinking am I going to ever be able to truly smile ever again - obviously I smile and laugh with her as I’d hate her to see my like this but I just can’t imagine a time when I’m going to genuinely smile again
I’m dreading going back to school to which gas always been my happy place
apologies for the long message x
Hi Cella88
Yes.
Let me expand - at some point one of your students will need some help and your life experience might be what just what they need at that time.
I know with Janice it was hard early on to hear things like "you look so well" and yet know how she is - though I might rather she looked well than the alternative. I bet your mum is worried about you too - you might find talking about cancer quite helpful. I found the book "The Secret C" by Julie Stokes was also quite useful.

Steve
