Lying in bed wide awake feeling guilty, angry and just glad to be in own bed after leaving folks house after a long wired Christmas experiencibg the effects of my mums chemo for the first time. Cancer bri gs so many waves of emotions and I feeling alone

  • Hi and welcome to the community though sorry to hear about your mum. Many end up posting here in the small hours finding if difficult to sleep but I hope you managed to get some rest in the end.

Your emotions are really very normal, if you look at our pages on I'm looking after someone with cancer especially the emotional effects I am sure you will recognise many things you are feeling.

What kind of cancer does your mum have and what chemo is she on? There are lots of groups here where people share and support each other with a specific focus on what they found did and did not work to help them. We also have various specialists who support the fora in our ask an expert section.

Thanks for that. Its the moments of anger that are the hardest

Mum has a rare form of cancer called signant ring. Not sure what chemo she is having all I know is she comes home with it ove 2/3 days

  • Hi , I can understand how emotions get all over the place, I understand too the issues with rare cancers as my wife has one and it can be difficult to find people to share with sometimes even online.

I did find some information on the cancer research website here that might be helpful.
