This is my first time on this group as ii am a member of the carers group but was redirected here. Not been on here for a while as we were trying to accept the stage 4 verdict back in Feb`19.Dad has been losing his appetite over the past few weeks but was eating puddings rather than the main meals,Unfortunately he collapsed on Thurs morning and was rushed to our local hospital where i sat with him all night for the first night,I was told at first he only hours to live and expect the worst.Don`t if it was the shock of it all but i shouted for a second opinion and another doctor came in and moved him to another ward saying he would last longer than this.Felt like i was in free falling emotionally wise.Last night my uncle and i (remaining family)were told he has pneumonia and they can only treat him with pain management. Not had much sleep  and had to miss work but thats what family are for to care for one another in troubled times.

  • Hi , sorry to hear about your dad and the shock news you had, it sound like the doctor might have over reacted to the pneumonia and of course that was just about the last thing he needed on top of everything else. Glad you have family for support and we are here when you need too.

I read This and thought it was me..this has been my dad the last few weeks. We were told he had pneumonia, then heart failure but he seemed to come round to the point he was sent home last Monday. We lost him early hours this morning..the fluid on the chest got progressively worse yesterday and his breathing more laboured.  I miss him terribly already xx  thoughts with you and your family
