Hi All

Just a bit of a background, my Mum had her left kidney removed a few years ago due to cancer. Last November 2018 she had part of her right lung removed. She had a CT scan in December all clear. She then had a 6 monthly CT scan in June and the results in July are not good they found spots on her pancreas and liver and she will have to have chemo most likely tablets. We still haven't heard anything as to when this treatment will start. I'm beside myself with worry, I don't know how long Mum has left. She seems fine in herself and has no symptoms yet but I am petrified as I know how quickly things can change. My friends mum was diagnosed in the December and she died in the March, my aunty was diagnosed in November and died end of January, my sisters mother in law was given 3 months to live back in May, then her father in law has been diagnosed with blood cancer and now my uncle's kidneys are failing due to cancer, it's everywhere!!

I just don't seem to be getting through to Mum that she needs to keep chasing this. It's 2 weeks ago today we had the awful news and that it will eventually kill her. I feel that time is running away and I just don't know what to do anymore.

Sorry for the long post but if anyone has any information on how long it usually takes to start treatment and how long it can prolong life and if they know if there is anything that I can do please please let me know I'm at my wits end, many thanks everyone.

  • Hi , sorry to hear about your mum, we all know how frustrating this can be. If she has not heard yet it would likely be a good idea to chase this and it that seems difficult the PALS department at the hospital shoud be able to help.

    <<hugs>>
