My brother died from lung cancer in the 1st of November 2017 . I have since lost my mum in September of 2018 and my Dad in June of this year. I have been devastated.

Today my Grandson who is 9 years old did a 5 K race for life in Halifax West Yorkshire in memory of my brother which was his great uncle. I was so proud of him and very emotional.

Thank you KTatHome for your reply.

A lot of children up to 12yrs old did the race. They all had a a name or names on their backs to let everyone know who they were running for. It was quite an emotional morning. Cancer research organised it and I think it raised about £75.000.00 that was to be used for research. The vo!unteers did a great job.

Hi , I didn’t realise a lot of children do the race. I have been once to a race for life up in Liverpool, it was my daughter doing a muddy run with her work colleagues, they seem to do it every year as a group and then do a Macmillan coffee morning in September. They seemed to have heaps of fun, as well as raising lots of money.

Hi KTatHome. I didn't know until my Grandson did the race. There has to be an adult with them whilst doing it. It was a lovely event but quite emotional seeing all the runners with the names of those they were running for stuck on their backs. Bless them. After the children had completed their run the adults set off on theirs. It was a fun day even though all those people had been affected in some way by cancer.
