My Wife has Breast Cancer for the 2nd time. She will have to have a full Mastectomy very soon with Reconstruction.

The problem I have is my wife will need to recuperate and I will have to take days off of work so financially it may be difficult.

Is there a way of maybe getting some help with costs etc just to help us get bye at this difficult time.

Many Thanks

Colesey

    Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about your wife's diagnosis. I know you both will have a lot on your minds at the minute, but have you had chance to have a look at the Macmillan financial information on the main site? There's some really useful information on there that might be helpful. Although, I used to work in benefits and I'll not lie it's a minefield at times - so it might help to maybe give the support line a call so they can talk you through it rather than having to wade through it all to find what applies to you? If know if you pay your Council Tax in instalments over 10 months they might be able to re-jig your payments to give you a bit of a breather if you need it. Same with most companies really, a lot can be very helpful when you're going through a rough patch - they'd rather you let them know than struggle and fall behind I'm sure.

Also, I remember when my mum was first diagnosed, her lung cancer specialist nurse put us in touch with someone who would help us with any application forms and what not to make sure she got whatever financial help she was eligible for. Might be worth a try asking?

Hopefully you can get something sorted to ease your worries a little.
