Hi My mums lung cancer came back for a second time and it had gone to her lymph nodes so is now terminal. She had a course of chemo and was told she could only have 4 lots of that as it was a strong chemo and since that began immunotherapy in October. In Jan after her first scan we were told that one of the tumours had shrunk by half and the treatment was working (although they will never tell us how many tumours she has) we were really excited about this. She had her second scan in May and we have just been told that the treatment has stopped working and that they were taking her off the immunotherapy. They are now saying she isn't strong enough at the moment to have any more treatment and we have to go back in a month. She is not ready to give up her fight yet, she is a strong lady. I spoke to her oncologist on Thursday and was told that there probably was not much they could do apart from maybe put her on a trial. Can she demand that she has more treatment. Has anyone else been in this position.
Thanks in advance
Dotty a
Hi , sorry to read this, I can hear how much it is worrying you. The doctors may well be concerned that treatment might make things worse rather than better. While there are a number of trials out there they often have quite specific target audience you can see on the cancer research database.
Hopefully things might look more positive next month but for now just have to take things one day at a time.
<<hugs>>
