I attended my first art therapy session the other day and wanted to share the image I created and a poem I wrote about the experience. I’ve also reflected on the power of creative spaces in my latest blog - ‘Words, Pathways, Journeys’ - if you fancy checking it out!

The Art of Being
Souls were laid bare
alongside the acrylic paints
The hope, the pain
Mixed up with brushes
And pencils and books
Where they seeped
Onto blank pages
Stories were given
And received with care
Like delicate sketches
Our words etched pathways
Between and across,
back and beyond
These lives in graphite
Hearts were spilled
Willingly into water pots
As we cut and glued
The pieces left scattered
A hesitant collage
Of ourselves, our lives
Our uncertain landscape
Connections were crafted
In the marks we made
Lines lingered on open pages
Colours coated our fingers
A chiaroscuro, our lives
In chalk and in pastels
Our darkness and our light
Hi Writing Lola
I love both your artwork and poem. Not being artistically gifted myself, I do admire people who are.
