Your strength (like a tree) comes from having a solid base, and strong, well grounded roots. Always have a positive to hold on to, this can be the base to build on. Your families live will be the roots that support you when you falter.
I find my strength in writing poetry, sometimes defiant, angry poetry that just comes at times if I feel low, sometimes humourous, when I see the futility of fighting what can't be fought, and marvel and what the body can do. I have a stoma, I can't change that, I can only live with it.
I choose to LIVE with it and have adopted Eddie and see all the good that he brings!!
The release from the symptoms, the pain of the disgusting thing that invaded my body, is joyous and I focus my mind on every possible silver lining. I'll never need to worry where the next services are, as I am very adept now at changing Eddie's nappy in the car, in a secluded spot!! (I really never enjoyed sitting on a toilet anyway!)
Now gone
Questions about my mortality
Answered
A new beginning of
Hopeful futures
Without sutures
A return to feeling strong
No more feeling "wrong"
Never doubt your strength
Never question your will
We can defeat
Put into retreat
What will seek to kill
I'm not afraid
Nor shying away from the fight
I will survive and flourish
As I banish you into the night
Cancer you have no place
You have no right to presume to invade
I'll never give you the chance
Of your victory parade
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
